In his own words…
Born in Colfax, WA, 11/15/1937 to Stephen and Eunice Mech of Pullman Pullman didn't have a hospital at that time, and now they have torn down the hospital in Colfax …does that tell you something?
Graduated from Prosser High School in 1955 and went on to college at Washington State College later renamed Washington State University graduating in 1960 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. The same year he earned a Professional Engineering License.
Married the love of his life, Dorothy Wehe …..his starter wife, who later turned out to be his trophy wife.
Started professional career in missile industry, then returned to graduate school, earning an MS Degrees in Electrical Engineering.
After graduate school spend several years teaching, then went to work at Hanford. During his employment at Hanford he was issued Several Patents and had many Publications.
Retired as a Fellow Engineer after 23 years at Hanford.
Took up woodcarving, mold making, casting and turning pens from wood.
Enjoyed his family……sometimes
Survived by his loving and devoted wife, Dorothy, his son John and daughter Laurie, but no dog. A bunch of grand kids…..all local.
A Brother Dr. William Bill Mech , Jupiter, FL, a sister Cecile Mech Gurney of La Grande, OR, and Mary Mech Collier of Ellensville, NY. All of which have dogs.
Memorial services are planned for 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Riverview United Methodist Church, 4012 W. Court St., Pasco.
Memorial contributions may be made in Steve's name to Hospice at Tri-Cities Chaplaincy, 2108 W. Entiat, Kennewick, WA 99336.
I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Steve to be a friendly, quiet and gentle man. I want you to know that I can feel your pain. I am so sorry for your loss. Steve was a great guy and I enjoyed hearing all his stories. He certainly loved his family. He had a great sense of humor and will be missed!
Jean and I send our condolences to the family of our friend Steve Mech. Steve was an outstanding member of the CBC faculty at the same time I worked there. He was admired by faculty and students and played an important role in faculty government. He will be missed by many!! Gordon and Jean Timmons

But can tell you about the missing Kennewick Lion football mascot Prosser creamed the Lions
What an outstanding guy.Steve will be missed by many. We had some good times with the Mech family during the horse days with gaming.
