Ann G. Shord
Ann Shord passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord on Tuesday November 22, 2011, at Tranquility Haven in Kennewick. She had been in declining health for a number of months.
Ann was born June 25, 1938 to David and Henrietta Glunt in Charleroi, Pennsylvania. Her mother was a teacher and father a teacher, principal, and superintendent of schools. Following her parents, Ann attended Allegheny College in Meadville Pennsylvania and received a B.A. in teaching. She loved teaching kindergarten in the Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania school system. After her marriage to her husband Al Shord she spent her time as a homemaker raising two boys. During that time she was involved in considerable social and community activities. This included being a member and president of the local Bethel Park Woman's Club and vice-president of the Allegheny County Chapter of Arc serving children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities for Pittsburgh and surrounding communities. After relocating to Richland with her family in 1978 she enjoyed social, church, and community activities as her health permitted.
Ann is survived by her husband of 44 years Albert Shord, son Richard Shord, daughter-in-law Brenna Shord, grandson Forrest Shord, and granddaughter Katelyn Shord. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, son David Shord, and brother David Glunt retired Navy Captain, Annapolis graduate, and decorated naval carrier pilot.
The family would like to thank all of those who have enjoyed her presence and spoke well of her in their remembrance. In particular, much thanks to the owners Bernadette/Kelly McBride/family and staff of Tranquility Haven for the marvelous and loving care she received; to Dr. Joseph Salinas/Stacy and staff of Internal Medicine Associates of Richland for her care over the years; to Diane Microulis of Lourdes Counseling Center; and to Dr. Dan Lowe.

Ann was an absolute pleasure to spend time with and to be around. I will forever cherish my time with her :
Ann and I were college classmates at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA and parted company upon graduation. We were reunited in Richland many years later when I was helping to coach a Little League baseball on which her son was a member. I recognized her when her son asked me to hand his jacket to his mom and subsequently phoned her and called her by her maiden name. We remained friends after that incident many years ago.
