John D. Harrison Jr., 79, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on November 14, 2011, in Pasco, WA. He was born March 7, 1932, in Dubach, LA, to John and Audrey Harrison.

After graduating from Ruston High School in 1949, John worked for his Dad's lumber business, drove trucks and worked for the Louisiana Dept. of Highways. He joined the Navy in 1951 serving aboard aircraft carriers as a helicopter mechanic.

John married Alice Faye O'Neal in 1958, in Lafayette, LA. They adopted two children, Michael and Mary.

In 1964, John began working in the nuclear industry for the University of California, at Los Alamos, NM. In 1969, he joined Kerr McGee in Crescent, OK. He moved to Richland in 1975, joining Battelle Northwest Laboratories and retiring in 1995 as a Radiation Protection Technologist.

John was preceded in death by his parents John and Audrey Harrison. Survivors include his wife Alice Faye of Richland; children Michael Harrison and wife Julie of Richland and Mary Dupaquier and husband James of Kennewick; brother James Harrison of Lafayette, LA; sisters Ann Peters of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Marjorie Campbell of Ruston, LA and Virginia Harrison of Lafayette, LA; and 5 grandchildren.

John was a committed husband, father, Paw Paw and friend, always placing others ahead of himself. After 53 years of marriage to his wife Alice Faye, a lifetime of service to the Lord Jesus and constantly sharing compassion and concern for family and friends, he will be dearly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011, at 1:00 p.m., at Richland Baptist Church, 1632 George Washington Way, Richland, WA.
