Marion R. Dick Noble went to be with our Lord on December 27, 2011. He was born in Hood River, Oregon. He spent much of his childhood in Portland and Pleasant Hill, Oregon. He graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1934.
Even before graduating high school, Dick was forced to make his own way in life and this work ethic stuck with him through his long life. In the spring of 1935 he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp and spent 25 months helping to create State and National Parks in eastern Oregon.
In 1937 he went to work for the US Weather Bureau as an airway observer in Baker, Oregon where he met his bride, Betty. He then went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad in 1941. In 1947, he accepted a job with General Electric at Hanford Works in Richland, Washington where he worked for 21 years until retiring in 1968. He then went to work for a firm in Corvallis, Oregon as a water treatment specialist until retiring again in 1985.
Dick met Betty Phillips in 1937 and fell in love. They married in 1938 and over the next 16 years welcomed 6 children into their world. They parted only upon his passing. Dick was devoted to his family and was the shining example of a good husband, father and man.
Dick enjoyed tinkering with radios and other gadgets, taking walks with his metal detector, fishing and hunting. He also loved taking photos during his many travels throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother, Earl Jr., younger brother, Danny, and by his daughters Becky Gary Ripplinger and Patsy Fred Eichner and granddaughter Shelly Eichner.
Dick is survived by his wife, Betty, son Dan Carma, son Larry Mary, daughter, Elizabeth Ernie Giedd, Lynn Bill Paden, grandson Greg Michelle Noble. Dick is also survived by twelve other grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
Dick's life will be celebrated by his family and close friends on Saturday, December 31st, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Lynn, you and your family will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. It’s never easy to lose a parent. They are so much a part of who we are. May the lifetime of memories of your Dad help to comfort you at this difficult time.
There is a special place in our hearts
for those we have loved, for those who have loved us
without question, without a word or promise…
There is a special place where there is no pain or fear,
where love flows freely…
There is a special place to rest in our hearts forever. ~ unknown
hugs, Nelia
