Nelson Edward O’Brien

Nelson E. O'Brien of Richland passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at age 83. He leaves his wife of 47 years, Roseanne; his son, Mark O'Brien; his daughter Karen Anne Stegmann Tom; his brother John O'Brien Nancy Lou; and 2 grandchildren.


Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Frank and Violet O'Brien, he attended Drexel University and has been a resident of Richland for 30 years.

Nelson served his country as Seargent in the U.S. Marine Corps in Europe and Korea. He was past President of ARC, was a Special Olympics Coach, and was often seen volunteering annually at the NWAACC Basketball Championships and other community events with his wife Roseanne.

Nelson was employed by United Engineers & Constructors, Inc. for over 30 years retiring in 1993. He worked most of his career in Philadelphia, Hanford Site, and Johnston Island. He was a proud, loving husband, father and grandpa.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2011 at Einan's Funeral Home, 915 By-Pass Highway, Richland followed by an inurnment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Family would also like to invite you to a reception at Memories at Sunset Event Center after the services.
