Carol J. Lane passed away in the presence of close family on Jan. 12, 2012 in Everett WA at the age of 66 after a hard fought battle with ALS. Carol was born April 23, 1945 in Richland Washington and graduated from Richland High before attending Washington State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Education. In later years, during her distinguished career as an elementary teacher in the Richland and Kennewick School Districts, she earned her Masters Degree through Heritage College. As a young teacher at Lewis and Clark Elementary School, she met Jerry E. Lane whom she married in 1968.
Her parents, Marian L. McKenzie and Donald A. McKenzie preceded her in death, and she is survived by her husband Jerry Lane; daughters Kristin Price and Brenda Pribyl, son-in-laws Rob Price and Rich Pribyl; granddaughters Kaitlyn Price and Kelsey Price; and brother Don McKenzie.
Carol loved traveling throughout the Pacific Northwest, and abroad. She enjoyed sewing, arts & crafts, and spending summer morning's beachcombing near their cabin in Oregon. She was always full of fun and energy and those who knew her well would often encourage her infectious laugh.
She was a member of All Saints Episcopal church and the local orthopedic guild. She was a generous and compassionate mom; energetic, imaginative and adventurous grandmother; and loving wife. Her fun loving spirit and passion for doing right by others will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Dear Don, Jerry and family,
Please know I am thinking of you all. Carol Jean and I were great buddies when my family lived on Stevens — many plays, talent shows, chasing after our older siblings. We recently lost my sister, Shirley Anne, and our good neighbor, Max Case. We will miss them all. Love to all! Gloria
To Carol’s family;
I was saddened to read of Carol’s passing. She was genuinely nice; pleasant, fun, upbeat, and always in good spirits. Carol and I were in school together in Richland and at WSU.
May your memories of your sweet Carol comfort you.
Since the many years ago in high school, I’ve only seen Carol at reunions. Through all the years the things that never changed were her welcoming smile and her gentleness of being. We all will miss her. My thoughts and prayers go out with intentional love to Carol’s family.
I AM SO SORRY ABOUT CAROL! SHE WAS SO SWEET. SHE WAS MY CUSTOMER AT SPENCER CARLSON WHERE WE SPENT TIME LOOKING AT FABRICS, ROOM LAYOUTS, FURNITURE, AND WINDOW TREATMENTS. SHE HAD MANY GOOD IDEAS AND I ENJOYED HER SO. SHE LOVED HER FAMILY. I AM SORRY FOR ALL OF YOU.
Jerry, I was so sorry to here about you loss. My heart goes out to you and your kids. May God be with you all, always.

Jerry and Family,
Please accept my condolence on the passing of your wife and mother, Carol.
Dear Jerry and family,
I absolutely adored your mom. I knew her back in HS and then, during summers after HS, when we were all home from college. She was one of the most upbeat, positive, fun, pleasant, steady people I have ever met. I am so sorry she has had to go through ALS — and suffer an early death. Please know that my heart, love and prayers are with you all as you struggle with the loss of your wife and mom. Carol, Carol – she was beautiful beyond compare.
I am so sorry to hear of Carol Jean’s passing. Our families were neighbors and friends in Richland for over 40 years. My condolences to her husband Jerry, her daughters and their families, and her brother Don.

Jerry and Don:
I am very saddened to hear of Carol’s passing. Our families were good friends and fellow members of All Saints Episcopal Church. Carol was always so pleasant to be around. I’m sure she was as fine an example for her many students as there can possibly be. My thoughts are with you.
Jerry and family,
I am so sorry to hear of our loss of Carol to ALS. I had the privilege of working at Sunsetview with Carol. I remember her as a special friend and colleague. But my connections with your family go further back to when I first moved to the Tri Cities and enrolled my daughters Ellora and Diane at Jefferson Elementary where you were principal, Jerry. They both have fond memories of you. I also recall your attendance at All Saints where I was a member too and sang in the choir.
I pray for you in your grief.

Jerry & Family,
I went to school with Carol and thought so much of her. Her smile and friendliness to everyone made her extra special. It made me sad to hear of her passing. May all your wonderful memories give you joy. God bless you and give you peace.
Jerry and family,
I’ve always remembered Carol fondly and as the coolest student teacher anyone could have! I was in Jerry’s class he was always my favorite teacher when Carol started student teaching, and all my friends and I thought it was so “cool” when they got married the following year. You are all in my prayers.
I will always remember Carol’s beautiful smile and gentle spirit. I’m very sorry she had to suffer with ALS. She deserved a long, healthy life. I’m glad she is at peace now and I pray the Holy Spirit surrounds her family with comfort and peace also.
