Wilma G. Richmond Wilma Ferne Gire

Wilma G. Richmond passed away peacefully in her home of 54 years, surrounded by her loving family on January 6, 2012. She was born on November 24, 1919, in Fairfield, Iowa, the second of eleven children. After graduating from Fairfield High School in 1937, she moved to California to work for Lockheed, riveting aircraft for the war effort. In 1945, Wilma moved to Richland, Washington to join her parents and siblings and worked at DuPont and General Electric. In 1948, she met and married Bill Richmond. They were married for 62 years and raised a family of five in Richland.

Wilma was always very involved in her children's activities. She participated in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and PTA. For many years, she was an active member of Central United Protestant Church. She was a fantastic seamstress and made beautiful clothes for her daughters. She was her children and grandchildren's biggest fan and found great enjoyment watching them at all their games and events.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and cherished her friendships with her sorority sisters. She enjoyed traveling and went on many trips with her family through the years. Wilma also created traditions of gathering together as a family to celebrate every birthday, holiday or milestone. She brought a smile to many faces and will be greatly missed.

Preceding her in death is her husband, Bill Richmond. She is survived by her five children: Ginny Ross, Cindy Ewing, Mike Richmond, Jackie Richmond and Pam Bradley; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a loving extended family.

Wilma's family would like to invite you to celebrate her life with us. There will be a viewing at Einan's Funeral Home from 4 pm to 8 pm on Friday, January 13 and from 9 am to 11 am on Saturday, January 14. Also on Saturday, January 14, there will be a service for Wilma at Central United Protestant Church at 1 pm, with reception to follow. Central United Protestant Church is located at 1124 Stevens Drive in Richland.
