Myrtle Louella Clifford

Myrtle Louella Clifford, 90, of Richland, died Saturday, February 4, 2012, at Kadlec Regional Medical Center. She was born at home during a blizzard on January 21, 1922, in Staples, Minnesota.

On June 8, 1940, Myrtle married the love of her live, Raymond Henry Clifford and they moved to Kennewick in 1946. After the Columba River flooded in 1948, they made Richland their home with their four children. After the loss of Raymond in 1991, Myrtle stayed active by continuing to do water aerobics at the Richland Court Club, attending Person to Person , and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. She was a loyal fan of the Seattle Mariners and she loved spending time working in her yard and visiting with her friends that became her extended family. She devoted her life to helping others and was an active member of West Side Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond and her two daughters, Mary Lucile Storkel, and Ruth Marie Paslay. • Roy and Jeanne, I never had the opportunity to meet your mother, however, through Jeanne I was able to hear all about the wonderful woman that your mother was. I was also lucky enough to get to eat her wonderful cookies that she used to bake for you Roy every Friday. Yes, Jeanne did share with me. Your mother will truely be missed and I know how much you and Jeanne loved her. Please know that I am thinking of you. Linda Mitchell

  • I have known Myrtle for few short years as I provided lawn mowing services for her. She was a very nice person and I enjoyed talking with her about her lawn and flowers. My thoughts and prayers are with Myrtles family.

  • Dear Clifford Family,

I’m so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of Myrt from my childhood. My parents moved in across the street from the Cliffords when I was little and Myrt would baby-sit me. I loved going over to her house to play with the home-made dolls and doll clothes that were in a box on the floor in the closet. I always felt warm and safe with her. She was a blessing in my life!
