Fred Randle, Jr

Ever so often, the Lord takes a person to Heaven that makes you wonder if the folks on the other side needed a soul to bring laughter and funk to shake things up a bit. That is certainly the case with Fred Randle, a wonderful husband, loving father, son, brother, and friend who began enjoying his eternal reward July 28th, 2012. Fred passed away in the loving arms of his wife after a long battle with diabetes, which led to a heart attack. It's hard not to smile when thinking about Fred, even during this time of immense sorrow. He was born February 24th, 1950, in Tacoma, WA to Mildred and Fred Randle, Sr. who died serving his country in the Korean War in 1951. Mildred married Isaac D. Smith in 1960, who was to become the father Fred always longed for.

Fred was a star football and basketball player in high school. Later in life he enjoyed coaching little league baseball and basketball. Fred especially loved coaching and watching his son Jake play, even learning the ins and outs of ice hockey to support his son.

His passion for sports was only surpassed by his love for music. There was nothing quite like seeing Fred getting a crowd going at a gig. Fred founded one of his first bands while attending Central Washington University. He graduated with a BA in Sociology in 1973 and took a job at Rainer Bank in Richland.

Fred met his soul mate, Linda Pasch, in February of 1974, even though it wasn't love at first sight they were destined to be. It all started with a simple introduction by Mark Hutton and it wasn't long after that they became inseparable. They were married on November 4th, 1978.

A long time resident of Kennewick, WA, Fred worked for many years at Goodwill Industries providing training and rehabilitation for people with disabilities. He was also a well-known local musician playing with Big Daddy and the Nightcrawlers. Fred loved spending time with his family, having "jam" sessions with his friends, watching his Seahawks play, drinking a cold MGD, making ribs and eating them, playing the penny slots, taking care of the pets, buying lotto tickets that he never turned in, watching All My Children, and last but not certainly not least Fred loved cheeseburgers.

Fred will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Linda Pasch; his children Elizabeth and Jake; his father MGR Isaac D. Smith and his wife Kathryn; father-in-law Mike Pasch; sister Debra Smith; brother Ron Megan Smith; brother-in-law Larry Pasch; sister-in-law Sandi John Larson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Fred is preceded in death by his father Fred Randle, Sr.; his mother Mildred Smith; and his dear friend Mark Hutton.

A viewing will take place and the family will greet visitors Friday August 3rd, from 4 to 8 at Einan's Funeral Home, 915 By Pass Highway in Richland, WA. There will be a memorial service Saturday August 4th, starting at 10am at Einan's Funeral Home with a "jam" reception to follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2500 Chester Road in Richland, WA. Fred will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Should friends desire, memorial donations may be sent to Grace Clinic in Kennewick, or any local music program.

  • Dear Linda and Family,

I was so sorry to hear about Fred. I pray that your loss will diminish a little rememberting all the good things you shared and knowing that many people care about you and your family. Fred was a joy to know. Working together at Rainier/Security Pacific Bank all of 20 years and walking in the 26 mile March of Dimes “Marathons” is a great memory for me. God Bless you all.

  • I heckled Fred endlessly at Central about nearly everything.

He enjoyed watching football and cold beer so we had a couple of things in common that I couldn’t give him any grief over.

Now he has the best seats in the house for any game he wants to see and the beverages will be the best.
