Donald Jackie Vice
10/19/1932 — 08/10/2012
From Pasco, WA, United, States | Born in Saline County, AR
Donald Jackie Vice
Donald Jackie Vice, Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 10, 2012. Born October 19, 1932 in his grandmother's bedroom in Saline County, AR, Don was the son of George and Jessie Vice. He was soon joined by his siblings, Ruth, George, Georgia, Joy, and Carroll.
Shortly after graduating from Bauxite High School, Bauxite, AR, in 1951, he joined the Air Force. Don was stationed at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, WA. One night he joined two Air Force buddies and went to a Lutheran Service Mens Center to play pool. The three buddies met three young women – it was the first time all six young people had visited the Center. These three young airmen fell in love with the three young women and all three couples married. Don met and fell in love with Beatrice Larsen and they were married August 2, 1953. Their family grew to include Margit, Donald Jr, Jon and Jessie.
Don held many jobs after leaving the Air Force. He sold insurance, worked at a meat packing plant, and was proud to be a US Mailman. However, in October 1961, he found his true calling – being a minister of the Lord. He recently celebrated his 50th anniversary of being an ordained Missionary Baptist minister. Don was ordained on May 13, 1962 at the West Bauxite Missionary Baptist Church, West Bauxite, AR.
Joshua 24:15, "…but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
Don pastored many churches, in Washington and Arkansas. In 1969, Don moved his family from Tacoma to Carlisle, AR, while he attended the Missionary Baptist Seminary and Institute in Little Rock, AR. He graduated in May 1972 with his Bachelors of Bible Languages. Soon after that, Don moved back to Washington and began missionary work and starting new churches in Pasco and Everett. He believed what Jesus spoke in Luke 24:43, "And he said unto them, I must preach the Kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent."
He enjoyed so many things, sitting in his easy chair eating peanuts and watching the Seattle Mariners, wearing his blue and orange tee shirts to root for his beloved Boise State Broncos or fishing on an early Saturday morning. He taught his sons that same love of hunting and fishing. He also taught his children how to be strong and to stand up for what they believe, no matter who or what stood against them.
Don is survived by his daughter, Margit Randy Shultz of Boise ID, son, Jon Vice of Pasco and daughter, Jessie Vice of Pasco. "Poppie" is also survived by 5 grandchildren David, Holli, Amanda, Candace and Tyler and 6 great-grandchildren Ella, Finley, Robert, Estrella, Joey, and Cashmere. Don was very excited to know that his eldest grandson and his wife were expecting their first child this coming December. Don is also survived by his brother, sisters, nieces, nephews, and other family members too numerous to mention.
Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beatrice Vice; son, Donald Vice Jr; grandson, Cory Vice and granddaughter, Breann Vice; and his parents, George and Jessie Vice.

Matthew 25:21, "His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant…"
I met Bro. Don when he was first at Pasco 1972. He has been intertwined with my family ever since. Always someone to admire and always one that stood up for his beliefs. He shall be greatly missed.
Dear Jessie & Family:
I was sorry to hear of the passing of Bro. Don. I enjoyed visiting with him at the ABA meeting in Fresno just two months ago. He was beaming and happy to fellowship with the brethren there. But he is in a much better place now. We will remember your family as you adjust to his homegoing. Bro. Don touched the lives of many people with his enthusiasm for Jesus and the cause of Christ. No doubt he has met many in Heaven that he led to the Lord himself! May God bless you all!
So sorry for your our loss. A wonderful man of God at Home now.

Dear Vice Family,
Brother Don Vice and my family go back to 1968 when I was pastor at Lonoke, Arkansas and Bro. Don was pastor at Carlisle, Arkansas. We had good times together. Over the years I have pastored churches that supported Bro. Vice in the mission works he did in Washington State. I had the opportunity of visiting the mission field in Washington three times and once Linda and our youngest daughter, Courtney, were able to join me.
Over the years we have had contact by phone, email, and personal visits. It has always been a joy to visit with Bro. Don and also Sister Bea, his late wife.
I was so glad that he got to attend the ABA messenger meeting in Fresno, California in June. He was able to give the closing Scripture and prayer for the Tuesday night session. This was truly special.
Bro. Don could say, “James,” like no other and it was always special when he spoke to me.
Heaven is sweeter today.
Love to the Vice Family,
Praying for the family and thankful for the life he lead. Glad I had the chance to meet him.

Margit, Jon, Jessie, and all of the family: our prayers are with you at this time. We know where Bro. Don is and can be assured that he’s in a better place with our Lord. It was an honor to get to know your family and help establish our Missionary Baptist churches in Washington. They will always be a blessing to their communities and state, all because your Grandma Jessie wanted him to have a New Testament church to attend. May God bless you all at this time.

Growing up in Washington state and being a member of Auburn MBC, meant that every Youth rally, quarterly fellowship, annual meeting and church camp since I was bornwould find Bro. and Sis. Vice there. I will never forget their smiles and joy serving the Lord. I am thankful that God brought me up around the Vices! I am a better man today because of them. I will see you both soon.
To the family of Pastor Don Vice, Sr. I had the privilege of meeting your family in 1974 in Pasco while on deputation preparing to work in Mexico. Your welcome over the years has been a great blessing. Last year in August I attended service in Hermiston and was invited to spend the night in Pasco. What a visit! It was a special moment at the ABA meeting in Fresno this June when Bro. Don was invited to read scripture and lead a prayer. May your family members be held close by the grace of our great God as we look forward to eternity. Gene & Linda Gabrielsn
He fought a good fight and now rests with Jesus. Anyone who was not at the state meeting in July missed a true blessing from the Lord. We will pray for the family for the loss of this man who was truly bigger than life and yet humble in his service to the LORD.
We will miss him too.
To the Family: I am Sad to see Brothe Don go home to be with Our Lord, however I am more excited because I know where he is!!!! In 1973 I think at a youth ralley at Lakeview MBC I first heard the Gospel preached in a way that got my Attention. In January 1974 I ask Jesus to come into my heart and be My Savior. Thank You Brother Don for Telling me about Christ That Day! My condolenences to all of Brother Don’s Family. Know this for sure, when the Gospel goes out at Brother Dons memorial, God’s word will not return void. Someone is going to get Saved and get to see Brother Don again! See you soon Brother Don. Don will be greatly missed not only by his children but also by those whose lives he touched. His dedication to his fellow man is encouraging to all who knew him. He is resting in God’s memory. May the family find peace in that assurety
The love we cherish in our hearts for your precious dad will always be there, as is the love we have for each of you children and your mother. Baring Cross MBC was truly blessed to have him as a pastor during the 3 1/2 years he lovingly led us, both in spiritual growth and in the construction of our present church building. Such happy times those were, and we will always be grateful for the teaching, guidance and love this precious pastor so joyfully gave to our church family. We rejoice in knowing that he is now enjoying the great victory with Jesus and with all the many lives he has touched! Our love & prayers will continue to be with each one of you.
Dear Vice Family,
It has been a blessing to know the Vice family for
over 50 years. It was great seeing and visiting with Bro. Vice and Jessie at the ABA meeting in
Fresno. I am so thankful he was with us in AR.
and Fresno before the Lord called him home. He was faithful till the end. Well done.
God bless you all.
Edgar N. Eddie Sutton
Jessie, Jon, Margit and family,
Our prayers are with you as you grieve the loss of Brother Don and Sister Bea. We remember moving to Pasco in 82. Julie was a newborn. You all took us in and loved us like family. I will always remember the good times fishing at Red Rock and early morning goose hunts at McNary. It was special to be invited to the Vice home on Sunday evening for “fellowship”. I always hoped that Sister Bea had made lefse. It was sooo good. When Bro. Don resigned as pastor, he called me in his office and told me I could handle it. I didn’t realize that I was about to be the adult sunday school teacher and church treasurer. Little did we know that God was using that time and the mentoring by Brother and Sister Vice to help prepare us for what he had in store, the foreign mission field. We cherish the fond memories of our time with the Vice family in Pasco. Our prayers are with you.
Dear Precious Family,
Myself and my family will always be grateful for Bro. Don and Sister Bea’s love and special care to Floyd, Lloyd, myself and family during our tumultuous stay at the University of Washington in 1986 during Floyd’s hospitalization and death. They were always there taking us to and from the airport and providing almost daily visits and support. Bro. Don and Floyd loved to preach to each other and have a good time in the LORD. I am sure their time together now is even sweeter. I have never met two kinder people and we will be forever grateful for all they did for us while we were there. I wish I were there to give you all a big hug as they gave us so many times.
Much love,
Verna Baker and Family
Our dearest brother, how I will miss

I am so thankful you are not hurting
anymore and that you are with God.
We will all be together again soon.
May the Lord Bless amd guide the Vice family.
