Mom was born in Yakima in 1932 and moved with her parents and two brothers at age 12 from Yakima to the Richland area where they resided at the Horn Rapids Camp. Eventually they moved into their home on Winslow Street in Richland.
Mom graduated from Richland High School in 1951. Not too long after that she met and married the love of her life, our daddy Jim Strickland while he was in the area performing training exercises in the US Army. Mom lived in a small cabin at the Richland Y where her first child Karen was born, and there she waited lovingly for daddy to return home from being stationed in Okinawa. He finally returned home and they moved to their first home in town on Adams Street. Their second child Randy was born two years later. They eventually moved to Smith Street in Richland where they resided for 48 years. Two more children Kathee and Steve were born while living there.
Our mom loved her family so much and always enjoyed our family gatherings for birthdays and holidays. Mom would always tell us kids to "come by when you get time!!" God blessed us with you, mama!
Geraldine was the sister of my maternal aunt’s husband. I did not know her, but can easily see my uncle Jack in her face. Finding this posting of her death was very bittersweet.
