Ruth Ellen Richman

Ruth Ellen Van Winkle Richman

Ruth passed away September 3, 2012 after a long battle with metastasized breast cancer. She was born November 14, 1956 in Pasco, married Eric in 1979, and raised 3 children – Cory, Emily, and Katie. She had a natural ability to nurture and found much joy in the presence of all children. Ruth enjoyed reading, laughing, and chocolate. Many will remember her for her excellent chocolate chip cookies.

She pays tribute to her cancer and long term illness sisters who passed before her: Terry, Peggy, Andi, Jill, Joy, Laura, and Christine.

There will be a celebration of her life at the Memories at Sunset Event Center from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 15, 2012.

If you would like to donate to a charity in her name, please consider The Chaplaincy at Hospice program. If you feel compelled to mark her passing in some other way, please consider committing to doing something nice for someone every day. It will make you feel great and Ruth would be pleased to know she had that kind of impact on this part of the world.

  • Eric, Cory, Emily and Katie…Mark and I will be there on Saturday to celebrate the wonderful life of your wife and mom and our sister-in-law. Ruth will be sorely missed by all of us…but for me in particular…her outrageous sense of humor…followed by the characteristic ‘Ruth’ laugh and snort…will be forever imprinted on my brain. Miss you Ruth, Ruthie and Mark

  • Dear Richman family,

We are lucky to have had the opportuinty to have Nana Ruth in our and our children’s lives. There is not a person she has met that she hasn’t touched and our lives are better for knowing her. Sean and Sloan have especially benefited from her devoted care and attention to them in their time of need. When they needed someone Ruth was there and we will be thankful forever for her loving care and joyful spirit. She will forever have a place in our hearts.

  • Our mutual friend Stephanie Hays informed me of Ruth’s passing. Just now she sent me the notice from the paper with Ruth’s beautiful picture. She is just as I remember her from high school. She was the most fun loving and joyful person ever. I do remember her infectious laugh. She was a true joy to be around. I have a very sad heart and tear filled eyes as I write this. As we all get older we forget that we really are older and remember back when we were in high school and it really does seem like yesterday. I will miss her also, even though I moved away from the area 28 years ago. I wish for her family all of God’s blessings and comfort. She will be sorely missed, but is now in peace. Love and miss you Ruth…..

  • My sincere sympathies. I have known Ruth since junior high? at least senior high in Pasco. I haven’t seen her in 25+ yrs, but we exchanged Christmas cards during that time which I still have several of. Over the years her cards told me about her kids growing up, weddings, grandkids, etc. She was very proud of her family. Ruth was a kind, down to earth person and I’ll always remember her laughter. It was a true blessing to have known her.
