Janelle Sue Patterson
Janelle Sue Patterson passed away October 9, 2012 at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, Washington, with family and friends at her side.
Janelle was born April 25, 1946 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Mary and Rolla Patterson.
Six months into her life, Janelle's parents relocated to San Francisco, California, where Janelle attended school and was part of the Bay City Rollers. Janelle met the love of her life, Gerald Benedetti at the young age of 19. The two of them had a baby girl, Judith Ann Benedetti. Judy was the center of their world. Janelle's world would later be rocked by the death of Jerry in a tragic boating accident. Janelle worked three jobs to support her little girl. Janelle knew the word "sacrifice," and she worked hard to build a life for the two of them.
In the early 1980's, Janelle became employed with Bechtel Corporation where she worked her way up from an Administrative Assistant to a Senior Technologist.
Janelle enjoyed camping, tole painting, spending time with friends and activities with her daughter. She was later diagnosed with breast cancer which she courageously fought. Janelle was always a trooper and she taught her daughter to fight for what she believes in, especially her principles.
Janelle relocated to the Tri Cities early in 2000 to work on the Waste Treatment Project, from which she retired in 2006. The greatest and proudest moment was the birth of her only grandchild, Michael Gerald Benedetti.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 15, 4:00 PM, with visitation one hour prior at Einan's Funeral Home in Richland.
Janelle was a great friend and will missed. She and I emailed and talked on the phone quite a bit since i left Washington. We both had birthdays in April so we talked alot during that time. I will miss her very much!!!
Janelle and I have been friends since 1959, we had been through many changes but always stayed in touch, I talked to her 2 weeks ago for 2 1/2 hrs. mostly about family, laughed alot, told some funny stories as usual, our family will love and miss her forever, I know she is at peace now and bringing Jerry up to date on the past 45+ yrs.;;
My heart goes out to Judy and Michael as they mourn the loss of a very special woman. Janelle was truly a gem and will be sorely missed. I will always remember her smile and laughter and our “smoke breaks” on the WTP project. I pray God’s blessings on her family and friends and they deal with her transition to be with her Heavenly Father.
Janelle is greatly missed. We met at Bechtel during CAD training in the mid 1980s. She had a great sense of humor and was a good friend. Her experience with breast cancer got me thru mine. We talked often until she moved to Wa. I always called on Christmas in April.
