Michael Howard Ostrowsky
Michael Ostrowsky age 67 years died suddenly at home early on the morning of October 6. He was a resident of Richland for 6 years prior to that he lived in Utah, Montana, Oregon, Illinois, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York, and Pennsylvania. Quite peripatetic.
He was a retired pharmacist.
He is survived by his devoted family. Wife, Jeanie; son, Dan; daughter-in-law, Kristi Kulmus and four grandchildren: Hannah, Mackenzie, Landon, and Kairi. He was preceeded in death by his parents.
Mike was born August 20, 1945 in Boston Massachusetts to Nathan and Celia Cohen Ostrowsky.
Raised in New York State, he graduated in 1963 from Binghamton North High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society. He had a scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania where he studied electrical engineering. He left Penn and volunteered for the Army in 1964 and served in the medical corps. He spent one year in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1968 with the rank of Spec 5.
Mike entered pharmacy school in Philadelphia in 1968. In 1969 he and fellow student Jeanie Caum were married, and their son, Dan, was born in 1971. He graduated from The Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science in 1974 with a degree in pharmacy and went to work for a group that developed the first computerized pharmacy system.
In 1976, he joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His family was sealed in 1977 in the Washington, DC Temple. Mike held many callings in the church; his favorites involved missionary work and being an ordinance worker in the Chicago Temple.
Mike's greatest loves were the Lord and his family. He also enjoyed primitive camping, rock hounding, computers, and photography.
Visitation will be at 2:00 pm in the LDS chapel on Keene Rd in West Richland. Funeral at 3:00 pm. Interment to follow at Sunset Gardens.
Jeanie, I was shocked and saddened to read of Mike’s passing so suddenly. I am sending a boatload of loving hugs your way. May your family, friends and memories comfort you.
