William "Bill" Arthur Alexander
William "Bill" Arthur Alexander died suddenly at his home on October 3, 2012. Bill was born February 26, 1938 in Massillon, Ohio to James Arthur Alexander and Naomi Parr Alexander. After living briefly in Gary, WV, Gary, IN, and Benton, IL, Naomi and her two sons returned to Massillon, Ohio where Bill attended school and later graduated from Washington High School in 1956.
Bill married Faye Helmick in Massillon on August 23, 1959. Bill and Faye had two children together, Kelly Jean and David Allen; and he also raised Faye's young daughter, Valerie Rae, as his own.
Bill was transfered to Richland with US Testing in 1965. Then is 1969, Bill and Faye, along with Betty Lang, opened the Brass Door in Richland, which they operated for 10 years.
After closing the Brass door, Bill began painting professionally and opened Alexander's Art Gallery in Richland. After Kelly decided to open her own bakery, they combined Bill's art gallery and Desserts By Kelly. Eventually, they scaled down the art gallery and became more involved with the bakery. Over the years, Bill made many friends through working with the public.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his Aunt Virgie and Uncle Bud Wendling, who helped raise him and his brother, Robert "Bob".
Bill is survived by Faye, his wife of 53 years, two daughters, Valerie David Huffman of Issaquah, WA, and Kelly David Gamez Alexander of Richland, WA, son David of Boulder, CO, and granddaughter, Jennifer Huffman. Bill is also survived by his only brother, Robert Jean Alexander of Kennewick, WA.
At Bill's request there will be no services. Donations may be made in Bill's name to Benton County Humane Society.

Dear Mr. Alexander,
I have enjoyed every moment I was in contact with you. You were always such a kind and patient man and that is how I will always remember you. You were like another Grandpa to me and I will never, ever forget you. The world lost a pretty amazing man, but heaven gained an even better angel. May you rest in Peace and know that you will not be forgotten. My love and support goes out to your wonderful wife and family.
Sincerely, Your Favorite :
Dear Alexander Family,
though separated by time and miles, I will always remember Bill fondly. When I first began working at Kelly’s years ago, his sweet gentle spirit was an encouragement to me while i learned my way around that busy bake shop. Bill often saw humor in the most tense moments and was to me a quiet reminder of loyalty, devotion, and friendliness. I do still love and admire the Alexander family and will always count myself blessed to have spent the few years with them that i did. Rest in Peace Bill, and all my love to your family.
