Agatha Helen Stonecipher

Agatha Helen Stonecipher, 94, passed into eternal rest on Wednesday night, November 28, 2012, in Richland, WA. Agatha, a retired professional Registered Nurse, moved from her home in Spring, Texas to the Manor at Canyon Lake, Kennewick, WA to be near her daughter two years ago, then in her final year with her daughter at her home in Richland. Agatha was born on February 4, 1918 in Opelousas, LA and graduated from nursing school at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA.

Agatha met and married Robert Alvin Stonecipher and they were long-time residents of Baton Rouge, LA where Agatha spent much of her nursing career as an Industrial Nurse. After retirement, she devoted her twilight years to serving children's safetyas a school crossing guard in the Klein, TX school district until she was 87 years old. At her home in Spring, TX, she was an exercise enthusiast, attending a local gym until she moved to Kennewick two years ago, and continued exercising daily on a treadmill until a few weeks ago.

While in the Tri-Cities, she became enamored with the local community shopping and attending movies weekly and other local events such as craft shows, plays and local concerts. She also dearly loved to travel and a trip to Yellowstone National Park and an Indian reservation in Montana in an RV last year was a highlight, as well as yearly trips to LaPush, WA and Hood River Park.

Agatha and her husband were members of the "Greatest Generation" so she had lived a short time in Washington State before her final two years here, while her husband Robert served at the army camp. This period of time always brought back fond memories for her.

Agatha's parents Mary Louise Richard and her father who passed when she was only four years of age lived in Opelousas, LA along with her six brothers and sisters who preceded her in passing as did her grandson Brian Taylor, but she is survived by her daughter Judy Hugh N. Taylor of Richland, Robert T. Van Stonecipher of Sugar Land, TX, granddaughters Charissa Russell Kovin of The Woodlands, TX, Michelle JohnSweeney of Montz, LA and Scarlett Stonecipher of Germany and grandson Mark Stonecipher of Slidell, LA.

Mass for "G.G." as she was lovingly known by her great-grandchildren Kennedy, Jackson and Kate Kovin and Johnny and Mandy Sweeney will be celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Church at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 3rd with a public viewing at Einan's Funeral Home from 3:00 - 5:00 PM Sunday, December 2nd, with her final interment in Houston, TX.
