Bernice Kunz Nelson Our sweet mother Bernice K. Nelson passed on to join our Dad on November 1, 2012. She was born December 17, 1919 to Ezra and Vilda Kunz in Thomas, Idaho. Bernice spent her early childhood in Nevada and then moved to Utah where she went to school with her sister and six brothers. She graduated from Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah. In June of 1937 she married her sweetheart Lawrence Nelson in the Salt Lake Temple. They had a daughter and two sons while Dad was working for Remington Arms. In 1943 Dad heard about an employment opportunity in Washington. He came to Richland and worked at the Hanford Area. Mother came with the children as soon as Dad could find a place for them to live. They spent their working years in Richland and two more girls were added to the family. Mom worked as a cook in the schools, at Heather House nursing home, and Kadlec hospital. She also worked many years as Relief Society President and Primary President in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Upon retirement, she and Dad went on a church mission to Alabama and then moved to Sandy, Utah to help care for her parents. They were always actively involved with many church callings and family. Bernice is survived by her daughter Jean Alan Miner, sons Don Darlene Nelson, David Donna Nelson, and her daughters Carol Dean Weyand and Kathryn Scott Corbaley. She has 22 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. The family wants to thank Hospice for their wonderful care and support. A viewing will be held at Einan's Funeral Home on Monday, November 5, 2012 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held in Sandy, Utah and burial will be alongside her husband in the Sandy City Cemetery.
