Mary Lee Hall
Mary Lee Hall, 87, long time resident of Richland, Washington died Monday, December 17, 2012, in Richland.
She was born in Bridgeport, Nebraska on October 20, 1925. It is there that she met and married her husband, Robert B. Hall. After the birth of their first child, Michael, they moved to Richland, Washington in 1948.
Mary Lee was a charter member of Chapter DT, P.E.O., which supports higher education for women, and a faithful member of Central United Protestant Church. She found joy in being a mother and homemaker for many years. She also worked outside of the home for the Battelle whole body count program, and later for the Richland Clinic.
Mary Lee had a strong, positive spirit and a ready smile. When faced with many challenges in life, she always met them with determination and good humor.
She was a loving wife for 55 years, a devoted mother of four, a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a special friend to many.
Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, gardening, attending Seahawk and Mariner games, playing bridge, and traveling with her family and friends. Her grandchildren were the delight of her life, and she lived long enough to even see the joyful addition of great-grandchildren. Everyone loved Mary Lee, and we feel greatly blessed to have known her.
Mary Lee is survived by her son, Michael; son James and wife Pam; daughter, Anne and husband Dean Medford; and son, Thomas and wife Becky; nine grandchildren, Melissa Rueschaw, Amanda Somerville, Zachary Hall, Gregory Medford, Jeffrey Medford, Timothy Medford, Christina Yates, Sarah Menenberg, and Julia Hall; three great-grandchildren, Simon Rueschaw, Miles Rueschaw, and Owen Rueschaw; also her sister, Elizabeth Simpson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Zoa Hamilton; her husband, Robert B. Hall; brothers William Merwin Hamilton, John Colby Hamilton, and Fred Albert Hamilton.
A celebration of Mary Lee's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. this Saturday, December 22nd at Central United Protestant Church. Private internment will be held in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mary Lee's memory to the P.E.O. Sisterhood Foundation, P.E.O. Dear Mike, Anne, Jim and Tom…..
I will always remember your Mom as the wonderful person that she was.. so easy-going, cheerful, and fun-loving……and so easy to be around. She really enjoyed us, and we enjoyed her. She left us with alot of fond memories and good feelings! She will always hold a very special place in my heart!
We had alot of fun times together growing up as close families and close friends and close neighbors…We had hard-working Dads…and Fun-loving Moms that saw to it that we had alot of good get-togethers,… picnics…. yard parties… camps… and church retreats.
Mary Lee, and Marjie and Mom were young Mothers then, and very good friends…our lives revolved around them and their many activities…It was great getting to know all of you growing up. This is a sad day…but, I look forward to seeing you all again Saturday…and I hope that we do not loose contact forever…because forever may not be all that far off for us either.
This is another sad day…and my heart goes out to you…you have lost your Mother…and we have lost another dear friend from our parents group of great friends.
See you Saturday,
Love, Martha
It was an honor to know Mary Lee @ Richland Rehab. There is an empty spot at her table in Eagle Assisted Living. I miss here very time I go there to get ice. She always accused me of “slumming it”. It was fun to have her always laughing and teasing me. She would say ,”You didn’t ask permission to get ice.” I would curtsy and ask, Queen. mother Mary may I please have some ice?” It was so much fun we would all laugh.
I am thinking of your family during this sad time. I am so sorry that Mary Lee is gone. She was such a special friend to our family. I will remember her for her great generosity, loving spirit, confidant and best friend of my Mom’s, and for her wonderful laugh. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
I have fond memories of both your mom and dad when they came to school for your boy’s “special day” when they were in first grade. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
I met Mary at Richland Rehab. She always had some friendly quip that immediately showed you she recognized and liked you. She tried so hard to do her best. She surely loved her family and friends! Heaven has got to be rejoicing, to have her home. I’m so sorry for your loss.

I had the honor of caring for Mary Lee at Richland Rehab. She was such a joyous person. She always had a smile for me and was really a fun lady even in difficult circumstances. It was with much sadness that I heard of her passing. She will be missed both by those who knew her well and those who knew her only briefly.
