RAYMOND RALPH BRODACZYNSKI BRODIE
Raymond R. Brodaczynski Brodie of Richland, WA was born to Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Brodaczynski on August 15, 1923 in Milwaukee, WI. Ray left this earth on December 27, 2012 to be reunited with his loved ones in heaven.
Ray served in the U.S. Navy on the S.S. Langley during WWII from1943 to 1946, and again during the Korean War from 1950 to 1951. Ray moved to Richland in 1946, where he met and married Genevieve DesChane on February 4, 1950. Together they raised four children: Margaret, Steven, Carol, and Greg.
In Ray's earlier years he worked for Dupont, General Electric, Battelle, and various construction contractors. He retired as a pipefitter on construction at the Hanford site in 1983.
Raymond was a dedicated member of Christ the King Catholic Church where he enjoyed being an usher at Sunday morning Mass for many years. He also was a member of Knights of Columbus #3307 and a lifetime member of Local 598 Pipefitter Union.
Ray was always amazed at the growth of the Tri-Cities. He enjoyed frequent drives with his son Greg, and enjoyed shopping for a good deal. Ray loved any type of gathering where he could catch up on the latest news of family, friends, and all other events. He was a loving and well-loved man; there was not a place you could stop that he didn't run into somebody that he knew. He will be remembered as generous and caring, and always found the time to lend a helping hand to anybody in need.
Ray was preceded in death by his mother Barbara Orlowski and his father Edwin, wife Genevieve, son Steven Brodaczynski, daughters Carol Genevieve Harris and Margaret Brodaczynski, and brothers Daniel, Eugene, and Edward.
He is survived by his sisters Barbara Brodaczynski of Richland, WA., and Theresa DesChane of Post Falls, ID., brother Richard Brodaczynski and wife Gwen of Richland, WA., son Gregory Brodaczynski and significant other Janel Ottosen of Richland, WA., along with Janel's children Jessica, Jacob, and Cassandra. Ray is also survived by his son-in-law Grant Webber and wife Sue of Kent, WA., son-in-law Phillip Harris and wife Terry of Richland, WA., grandchildren Bret Webber of Richland, WA., Stefanie Hunsaker and husband Jeremy of West Richland, WA., Mariah Shearer and husband Josh of Las Vegas, NV., Tiffany Talbert and husband Jimmy of Phoenix, AZ., and Kevin Harris of Richland, WA., as well as great-grandchildren Genevieve, Hayden, Avalon, Chloe, Carolyn, Hudson and Abigail.
Everyone was amazed at how Ray always remembered family and friends' special days throughout the year and seldom missed sending or delivering cards and best wishes. Ray's son Greg said, " Dad was always there for me; we were best friends. He would always put others first and he donated regularly to many charities. I will forever miss him."
Visitation will be at Einan's Funeral Home in Richland on Thursday, January 3 from noon to 8:00 PM, with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. Mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Friday, January 4 at 11:00 AM, followed by a Graveside at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland. A reception will take place afterwards at Christ the King.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Kadlec for their support and compassion during this difficult time.

I first met Ray in April of 1985. I moved from Spokane into Einan’s funeral home. I went to work for the funeral home leaving my infant son ,my wife and two other children.

I’ve known Ray for so many years, that it is hard to remember all of them. Both at work and at Church, Ray ALWAYS gave a bright smile, a warm and welcome ‘hello’ … and you simply knew him. My condolences and prayers to all of Ray’s family.
