To Evelyn’s Family,
I worked with Evelyn at Sandia National Laboratories for many years and considered her a friend. I had recently thought of Evelyn in my passing thoughts; good thoughts need to be shared.
My thoughts are with her family at this time.

I first met Evelyn when she and I served coffee for the Richland Players. She was very nice and easy to work with. I was sorry to hear of her death and she will be missed. I pray family and friends find peace in knowing that she is with her Lord and Savior. God’s Blessings.

Many years ago, when Evelyn lived in Modesto, Mom LaVerne and I went to visit. As we were leaving the mall, Evelyn asked if we were hungry. Mom, who was in the back seat, noticed a KFC.”How about chicken”, came a voice from the back seat. Evelyn said “Sounds good-what kind of chicken do you want?” “Crunchy” was the back seat answer. “Do you want baked chicken?” asked Evelyn. “Crunchy” said the voice.”Do you want barbecue chicken?” “Crunchy”, this time a little louder. “How about fried chicken?” asked Evelyn. The voice from the back was very clear, “Yes, and make it crunchy!” , I could not contain myself when Evelyn said “Well, there is a KFC right here-will that be okay for dinner?” Even the hungry, slightly grumpy, passenger in the back seat burst out laughing almost to the point of tears. I really enjoyed the visit we had then and the one we had with Evelyn last month. I will miss her and always think of her when I hear the word “crunchy”. Love you Evelyn.
Evelyn was my Great Aunt. She was just visiting a few months ago and gave me an eyeshadow pallet she no longer wanted and I use it every day. As a gift for letting her use my room, and she decided while she was here she didn’t like my pillows, she sent me some really nice pillows. We miss you Aunt Evelyn. Rest in Peace.
I am very sorry for your loss. I will miss my sister.
I am greatly saddened, however find comfort that Evelyn is home with Jesus! Grandma Chaney as we know her, stayed at my house to take care of my children when I had my last back surgery while I was in the hospital. She always was willing to help out. Also, she rode the van in the van pool that my father in law used to drive to Sandia every day. My father in law was very ill with leukemia and Evelyn used to go visit him and take him books etc. I believe my father in law got saved during that time. Now they are visiting in heaven. I will miss our chats and visits when she would come to the shop. I pray for everyone comfort during this time. We love you all!! Rick, Melissa, Devan, Dillon, Cyndall, Kylie and Taunie
My Aunt Evelyn was an Amazing woman, whom I looked up to. My dad, Billy her brother talked to her when he needed advice about anything and everything. He was heartbroken after hearing of her passing. The last conversation I had with her, she was making sure I was receiving the care and treatment I deserved after my accident. She ended the conversation with telling me how proud she was of me graduating. That was the type of person she was always looking out for others needs and just being there to lend an ear. I will miss her so very much, but know I will see her someday!
My condolences on the passing of your mother. We have been neighbors in Kennewick. Our over the fence conversations were enjoyable as were the opportunities to help one another out.
My sympathy to Evelyn’s family.
Sincerely
Lindalee M Vancil
