Thomas Michael Grejdus

Tom Grejdus, 64 passed away July 19, 2013 at home. He was born February 6 1949 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island to John & Helen Grejdus.

Tom helped in his dad's store cutting & selling meat as well as some other small products. He enjoyed New York and Boston with his Mom and Aunt visiting upscale restaurants and the theater.

Tom went into the Navy right out of high school, and was accepted into the "BUD" Program. As a Navy Seal he ultimately did three tours in Vietnam . He was honorably discharged after 12 years, serving his country well and with great pride.

Tom enjoyed his job as a lieutenant Fire Fighter for the Rhode Island Fire Department, once retired he still made time to volunteer as a fire firefighter and EMT. Later he became a volunteer chaplain for the Kennewick Fire and Police department. He also was a volunteer chaplain for the Navy Seal, and helped at the hospital when needed.

Tom was most proud of his family and was heavily involved in all activities regarding his children, from boy scouts to father daughter dances, and church activities. His favorite place to be was in God's House.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents John & Helen Grejdus and his brother John II Grejdus.

Tom is survived by his wife Kay Grejdus, his sister Joanne Grejdus, Daughters Jessica Grejdus, and Cristal Cole, Sons Jon Grejdus, Mark Bates, Daniel Bates, and Kevin Bailey. Grandchildren Jayden & Andrew Kohl, Taber Cole, and Micah Bailey.

A Memorial service with Navy honors will be held at The Living Room Community Church 1409 S Garfield, Kenn. WA 99336 509582-4818 on Saturday July 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.

  • I enjoyed my time with Tom and Jon when we were all with troop 17 Crompton in West Warwick. Nights around the fire telling jokes and stories. We lose track of the friends we make too easily.I miss Tom already.
