Ida Cravens

Dedicated wife, loving mother, Grandmother, Great and Great-Great Grandmother, Ida Mae Cravens, age 101, of Richland, WA passed into God's hands from natural causes August 12th, 2013.

She was a wonderful example of faith, love, hope and charity. We were so blessed to have an amazing angel in our lives who taught us unconditional love, to always put our Savior and family first in our lives and to never waiver in our faith.

Ida Mae Cravens was born February 12th, 1912 in Irving, Alberta Canada and moved to the USA at 2 years of age. She held dual citizenship. She had 6 sisters and 2 brothers. After graduating in high school she later married George D. Cravens in 1931. They made their home in Electric City in 1932, then moved to Yakima and then in 1945 moved to Richland, WA where they stayed for the remainder of their years to raise their family 1 daughter and 3 sons. She worked for many years as the Director of Food Services at Hanford Schools who was known for her scrumptious German cooking and famous cinnamon rolls which made the local paper. She was an active lifelong member of the Central United Protestant Church in Richland, WA.

Family and friends were Ida's love and joy. She loved cooking and entertaining her family and friends at her home. She baked, hummed sweetly and prayed all from her tiny kitchen. Her house always smelled of fresh cinnamon rolls for any guest to enjoy. She had a great love and talent for crocheting beautiful blankets and toys for her grandchildren. She enjoyed painting, gardening, playing marbles and croquet and mostly spreading the word of Jesus. She was a loyal and steadfast servant to the Lord whose faith never wavered. She was an angel to countless lives that she came across in her lifetime and will always be remembered for her sweet and caring soul.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Gerald and Robert Cravens, daughter-in-law Darlene Cravens and siblings Martha Hahm and Mary Duffy. She has 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased in death by her Russian and German immigrant parents Gottlieb and Mary Heim, her husband of 47 years George Cravens, her siblings Eddie and Robert Heim, Lena Baker, Emma Bloom and Clara Sheets, her son Jack Cravens and daughter Dorothy Cravens and daughter-in-law Carol Cravens....

Our darling mother and Grandma, you are taking a little part of us with you as you follow your angels who will guide you to your precious place. May you look down on us with pride on what you brought into this world, in which you are now truly our angel of grace.

Memorial service will be held at Central United Protestant Church 1124 Stevens Dr., Richland at 10 a.m. and reception will immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Association.
