Guy was always proud that on his maternal side that he was a descendant of the Ball family from George Washington's wife, Martha Ball.
Most people called him Deeterr or Deet.
As a young child, Guy helped his family on the farm and worked in his father's blacksmith shop. He graduated in 1941 from Mosca Consolidated School #1 in Mosca, Colorado. A horse kicked him and broke his left leg, making him ineligible for the service in World War II. He worked in the Colorado copper mines and traveled for work until he went to machinist school. He worked for Boeing in Kansas City helping to build the first bomber fighter planes. His life work was as a machinist, working around the country, ending his career at Hanford. He lived in West Richland until 1982, when he moved to Kennewick, WA.
He enjoyed going to auctions, working in his yard and tinkering with his projects. He ate at Roy's Chuckwagon, Granny's Buffet or Old Country Buffet almost every day. He was most upset when Roy's closed their doors in 2008.
Guy was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Earl Paolo, Claude William and his sister; Ethel Mae. He is survived by two nephews and a niece. Guy never married and lived alone. The last five years of his life he lived in West Richland, WA.

Tammi, Loran and Weston
Guy Deeterr was a memorable part of our West Richland neighborhood along Van Giesen Street since the 1960s. His machining talent and well equipped machine shop were a great help to the various projects our family members brought to him over the years. He also liked to share stories from his past or his opinions on the topics of the day with his neighborhood “customers”. He was a good neighbor and will certainly be missed.
