Mary Louise Collins

Our Beloved mother, Mary Louise Collins, graduated on May 4th, 2014. Her daughter, Shirlane and longtime friend and neighbor, Judy Fisher was at home with her, when she went home to be with Jesus.

Mary Louise Fewins was born in Pisgah, Iowa on March 23rd, 1922 to the proud parents of Mr. Charles Emmert and Hazel Pearl Fewins.

The family later moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, where Mary met and fell in love with Jesus at the age of 16. One day she met and fell in love with her lifelong helpmate, Virgil Edward Duane Collins. They eloped on December 19th, 1939. Out of that union 3 cherished children were born; Shirlane, Arlane and Daniel. Mom and Daddy welcomed their nephew Ed VanderVeer at the age of 13 into the family.

Mama and daddy went through some rough times during the depression, they often told of only having a 100lb sack of carrots to eat. Through the years mama enjoyed collecting recipes, she could make almost anything taste good. She delighted everyone with her German Chocolate and Prune cakes. Mama was active in working with the Camp Fire Girls, when us girls were young. And she also attended many a little league baseball games with our brother Danny.

Mom was also involved in fundraising events at the United Pentecostal Church in Kennewick. When living in Portland, OR mama worked at the ship yards as welder/janitor.

Mary Collins is survived by her brother, Dr. Fred Fewins Donna of Hesperia, CA; sister, Shirley Milburn of Issaquah, WA; daughters, Shirlane Blanchard, and Arlane Steven Laws; son, Daniel Kathy Collins; grandchildren, Dennis Angela Blanchard, Debra John Pruett, Vicki Wall, Arlane Andrew Riggs, Colin Laws, Grant Laws, Daniel Collins Jr., Danel Herman Obrist and Darnel Robert Allen. Mary is also survived by her nineteen great- grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandma Maiden and Grandpa William Maiden; father, Charles Emmert Fewins; mother, Hazel Pearl Fewins; husband, Virgil Edward Duane Collins; son-in-law, Frank Henry Blanchard, and niece, Doris Vander Veer.
