Ernal “Ernie” Galbraith
Ernal Ernie Galbraith was born August 14, 1917 in Blanding, Utah to Edmund and Wilma Galbraith. He has returned to his Heavenly Father June 2, 2014. Ernie was raised on a small farm surrounded by extended family. Ernie had three brothers and three sisters. He left Blanding with a quarter in his packet to attend Utah State University. He graduated in 1940 with Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry, then completed a Master's degree at Kansas State in 1942. While attending USU, he met his soulmate Jeneve Creer. They were married March 13, 1942 in the Salt Lake City Latter-day Saint Temple. Ernie had a love of service to family and society, reading, wood working and spending time in his garden. He was a good "handy man" who survived the depression and he had the instinct of survival. His experiences and trials from the depression were lessons that he never would forget and was the foundation for his service and work ethics that he passed to his children.
Ernie moved to Richland in 1943. He was the 17th member of the analytical chemistry department to arrive at Hanford. The family laughs because at that time, Dad told Mom……"don't bring much; we will not be here long." Ernie resided in the family home of 50+ years right up until he passed.
Ernal is survived by his children Kirk Pat, Reed DeeAnna, John and Mary Ann Rocky, 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and his sister Ilene.
We are so grateful to family and friends that have surrounded him with love. For those who have cared for him at hospital and most recently the gentle care rendered by those at the Hospice at the Chaplaincy.
A viewing will be held June 6, 2014, 5:00 to 8:00pm at Einan's Funeral Home, Highway 240 and Swift Blvd., Richland. And funeral will be held June, 7, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Jadwin LDS Chapel, 1321 Jadwin Avenue, Richland. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 915 Bypass Highway, Richland.

John, and family. I am so sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. I know how hard these times can be. I would like you to know my prayers and thoughts are with you.
Ernie was our neighbor and father of a classmate of ours, John. Ernie maintained his home and lawn without help until just recently. As we walked by and spoke with him, we would ask if he needed any help. His reply was, “No, thanks, this keeps me young.” He was so faithful in walking his little dog several blocks while driving his motorized scooter. In addition to the neighbors missing him, his dog will be heartbroken. Beyond the darkness there is light; beyond the sorrow there is peace. Praying for all of the Galbraith family.
So sorry for your loss. I am going to miss seeing him drag that little dog around the neighborhood. It was so funny watching that little guy trying to stop for a potty break and Ernie would just keep on trucking.
