Marla Sue Beggs Pierson 1953 - 2014
Marla Sue Beggs Pierson, 61, peacefully left this earth September 29, 2014 with family by her side. Born in Yakima, Washington on August 19, 1953, Marla spent the majority of her life in the Tri-Cities where she worked and raised her family.
Marla loved being a mother and found great joy in her grandchildren – they were the reason she got up each and every day. Marla had a beautiful voice, loved to sing, paint, and enjoyed fishing and camping. She will be remembered for her witty humor, her laughter, and the way she loved and cared for her children and grandkids.
Marla will be missed by her daughter, Kristen Jones, and her son, Kurtis Staley; grandchildren Hayden, Andrew, and Matthew Jones and Alexander and Eleanor Staley; family members Deena and John Turmo; Michael, Pattie and Natalie Beggs; Carrie, Jim and Jamie Moser; and Max, Kimiko and Calder Morrison.
The funeral will be held Thursday, October 2 at 3 p.m. at Einan's Sunset Gardens located at 915 Bypass Highway in Richland, Washington.
"Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me
as if I were beside you there."
- Isla Paschal Richardson
Marla was a marvelous friend and I’ll miss her wit, her tenacity of life and her pictures, stories and anecdotes about her beloved grandchildren. She had such dreams for her retirement – traveling the country in an RV, fishing at her favorite spot on the Tucannon River, and just enjoying life.
But then Scleroderma raised its ugly head and Marla lived in agony for months, her retirement dreams lost to crippling pain.
Marla, you’re at peace, now. The Scleroderma may have gotten your body, but your spirit remains – full of tenacity of life, droll humor, love of root beer floats and lobster, Pachelbel, her “ladies” porcelain dolls, roses and most of all, her family – son, Kurtis, daughter, Kristen, and her beloved grandbabies.
We’ll miss you. But we won’t mourn, because we know you’re relieved of the pain now and we’ll look for you on the Tucannon at that sweet spot where the fish always knew your name. Missy Marla, love you.
I had the privilege of hiring Marla at the Attorney General’s office in Kennewick in the late 1980-early 1990 range, and had the pleasure of her company and sense of humor for many years. I will miss her, and would like to give my condolences to her family.
Rest in peace. Marla. You deserve it after these last few months. In the time I knew you. I felt as if I had known you for years. No matter how u felt, you were always kind to everyone around you. God bless you and your family. Vicki
Marla always greeted you with that wonderful smile….. it was her Trademark! It was my pleasure to have known and worked with her for many years.
My condolences to her family and many friends.
I am so sorry for your loss. I know your wonderful memories of Marla will help you through this difficult time.
I was deeply sadden by the news that we lost our Marla. When I started working at the Juvenile center in 1991 I had the pleasure of working with Ms. Marla on a daily thru the Attorney Generals office. I truly enjoyed her sense of humor and her smile, she was so sweet to me. After a few months of working together we discovered that I also had the pleasure of working with her mother at the Pasco Police Dept. we laughed at what a small world it was. Although after she left the AG’S we didn’t keep in too much contact, but she was always in my thoughts. My heart goes out to her family. May she rest in peace.
Deena I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of Marla. my deepest sympathy. May you continue to find comfort with the support of family and friends. with fondest memories. Ria
Our condolences on your loss.

I cannot in my wildest imagination believe you are gone. I still remember spending the night at your house with Sheryl and walking to Highlands Jr. High on the first day of school. It feels like last week and we are 13 years old. Life is way too short. Save me a spot in heaven girl, I know I’ll see you again.
I’m so sorry to hear of Marla’s passing. I met Marla when she worked with the AG’s Office as a legal clerk, many years ago. She would always come into the Juvenile Justice Center with a smile on her face and such a sweet lady with a great sense of humor. She will always be remembered and I pray for peace and comfort to her and the family. May you rest in Peace Marla!
Our dear sweet Marla, how we will miss you. Memories run back and forth through my heart and head from years past when you were just a teen. The visits at your mom’s on Hood and fun times & holidays with you, your mom, Mike, Carrie, Deana and Max. I remember the Easter you were 17we put our baby Darla in a basket and rang the doorbell for you. You squealed with delight and hugged and loved on her all day. We’ll always remember the many family dinners at your mom’s and all the precious times you were there to watch over our children. Now Floyd is gone, your mom, and so are you. Those times are precious memories that we will never forget. Thankful to know you are now home with Jesus. Love to all your family & loved ones. You were always such a delightful happy one! We love you Kaye & Floyd in heaven.
