Blaine Lee Hopkins
Beloved husband, brother, uncle and friend, Blaine Lee Hopkins passed peacefully on October 27, 2014 following a stroke caused by a brain cell bleed.
Blaine was born November 29, 1950 in Tacoma, WA and moved to Richland in 1952. He attended Richland schools, graduating from Columbia High in 1969. In 1974, he received an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Columbia Basin College.
Blaine held various jobs before becoming a Non-Destructive Examination technician with Areva, a profession in which he was well respected and admired, and from which he retired in 2009.
In 1973, Blaine married the former Christine Marshall, and they became a well balanced team who worked together for an ever growing relationship. The two shared a great love for each other, for their families, for their many friends, and for worldwide travel. They took numerous vacations together and recently returned from a trip to French Polynesia in celebration of more than forty years of marriage.
Woodworking was Blaine's favorite hobby, and his craftsmanship was admired by all who saw his work. He was generous in sharing his skill with friends, and took equal care in creating the trim for an entire home, or mending a broken rocking horse.
Blaine is survived by his wife, Chris Hopkins, sister Karen Daniel (Ric), nephew Darrell Webster, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and his furry companion Rosie.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Hopkins, father, Leon Hopkins, and nephew Kenneth Webster, Jr.
Graveside services will be held at one o'clock, November 1, 2014 at Sunset Gardens in the Garden of Peace, across from the pond, with luncheon following at Events at Sunset. Highway 240 & the Bypass, Richland, WA.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Safe Harbor Family Support Center, 1111 N. Grant Place, Kennewick, WA 99336.
So sorry to hear of Blaine’s passing. I worked with Blaine at Hanford in the 306E building. I was his QC inspector. He taught me a lot and I truly enjoyed his wit and friendship. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Blaine will be dearly missed by all his Class of 69 classmates. He was a great friend to all who got a chance to be around him in work, fun, travels and adventures along with his beautiful wife Chris. Our hearts and prayers go out to Chris and of course to Blaine’s little sweetheart Rosie and the extended Hopkins and Marshall families. This is a man who will be greatly missed by so many. Blaine had an innate calm about him that was a pleasure to be around and although our talks were rare, they were genuine and greatly appreciated. God Bless Blaine and God Bless Chris and your entire family of friends.
So very sorry to hear about Blaie’s passing. Rita called me this morning to let me know. Wishing you comfort in the many memories you shared, especially those made during your travels.
I am very saddened by Blaine’s passing. Other than family, I do not think I have known many people longer than him. Spalding, Carmichael, Columbia High…all with Blaine. Even though our visits were infrequent in the ensuing years, Blaine was always his steady, easygoing self. It was always nice to see him. My sincere condolences to Chris and both families. May the peace of Christ be with all of you.

I am so saddened by the loss of Blaine. Chris, my condolences to you for the loss of a good man. I and my children still remember when you and Blaine would come to the house and do cartwheels and flips in the yard with them. Good memories.
Blaine always had a great big smile on his face when ever I saw him. I remember some great badmitton games and one fishing trip with Chris, Victor and Blaine that I will always laugh about. Thanks for the memories. Rest in peace. Johnny
Chris, my heart is saddened by the news of Blaine’s death. Blaine was a man that once a friend..always a friend. Our visits over the years were always the best…our long phone conversations always left me knowing that our friendship never changed. He truly was a good man. Love to you..

I was so sorry to hear about Blain. I only worked with him so never met his wife. He always said positive loving things about you. He was a kind, helpful person and the world is a little colder without him. My thoughts will be with you and your family in this sad time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you today as you mourn the loss of Blaine. He will be missed. I had the opportunity to run into him a few weeks back and we laughed as we reflected on the good old days and how we were enjoying retirement. He was a first class gentleman and loving husband.

Chris, We are so sorry to read about Blaine. We are glad you two were able to retire and do some traveling. I really enjoyed Working with Blaine. I will always remember his long stride and I would have to fast walk to keep up with him. I will never forget Blaine on the 306 fishing trip and his drinking of Don’s Snakebite medicine ‘Blackberry Wine’.
I shall treasure our wonderful life together and know that “I see you” always.
Blaine was the most genuine man I ever knew.
