Olga (Penny) Julia Soares Muir 

Olga (Penny) Julia Soares Muir was born January 15, 1922 in San Francisco, CA. She passed away peacefully December 31, 2014 with her family at her side in West Richland, WA. 

She moved to the Hawaiian Islands at 9 months of age and there she grew up. Her family ran a lucrative business importing goods to the islands she and her sister were professional roller skaters and performed at night clubs for tourists and for military entertainment. She worked as a civilian at Pearl Harbor where she met the love of her life and future husband, Lyman W. Muir who was stationed there in the US Navy. They were married there in 1945. They left to come to the states and start their family and life together. They lived in Missouri and Idaho before settling in Washington State where Lyman went to work at Hanford and Penny become a homemaker for their family of three children.

All the neighborhood came to hang out at “Mamma P’s” home where everyone was always welcomed. She was loved by all who knew her and she left a great impression on all lives she touched.

Later in life she moved to Luther Senior Center in Richland and enjoyed 14 years there. She then spent her last 14 years at Richland Gardens Assisted Care. 

She is preceded in death by her husband Lyman and son Larry. 

She is survived by her son Dennis of West Richland and daughter Penny of Benton City; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 

Penny will rest beside her beloved husband and son.
