Robert V. George

Robert “Bob” George met his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ the morning of November 29, 2014.  His wife Sheri was by his side at their home as he passed with peace and dignity.  Bob was 69 years old.

Bob was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota.  In 1963 he joined the United States Navy.  After a four year stint he returned to Duluth for several years before moving his family to Las Vegas, Nevada where he worked as a building contractor and building inspector. It was there that an industrial accident caused the loss of his left leg. That loss never deterred him; it just made him more resilient and determined to do anything that he wanted to do and he always found a way.

In 1991 Bob and Sheri moved to Pasco where they started the Redneck Ostrich Ranch, named after a breed of ostrich and a little bit for Bob. The business grew and eventually the farm was producing ostrich meat for restaurants in the Tri-Cities, Portland and Seattle areas.  His greatest joy was the opportunity to share his experience and knowledge of raising ostrich to hundreds of school children from the Pasco School District and other areas during the nineties.  Field trips were a daily ritual in the spring when the farm offered baby, teenage and adult ostrich for the kids to see. The children affectionately called him “Ostrich Bob”.

Bob was an amazing character who touched many lives.  He was a delightful man with an infectious energy and a fine wit. You always knew when Bob entered the room and he never stopped offering his words of wisdom to anyone who would listen.  He lived to work and his work ethic was unsurpassed.

Bob is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sheri Kroodsma of Pasco, two beautiful daughters, Darcy and Stacey, his wonderful granddaughter, Kristy who will be giving birth to his great grandson Grayson in March.  He is survived by two brothers, David and Pat and his sister Joy.  We know the first person to bring him into God’s world was his grandson Jimmy who passed away seven years ago.  He will be missed terribly and was loved by so many people but the suffering is over and he is dancing again with both of his legs.
