From Richland, WA | Born in Roseland, Virginia
Lilly Salzano
Lilly Salzano, 83 of Richland passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Kadlec Regional Medical Center. She was born on a farm in Roseland, Virginia on May 4, 1931 to Henry and Mary Carter.
She married the late George Salzano in September of 1958 and moved from Jersey City, NJ to Richland in 1963 when George was hired by Vitro Engineering.
Lilly and George enjoyed fishing anywhere they could find along the Columbia River. They often loaded up the trailer with their three boys, camped and fished at the Potholes. Even more than fishing, Lilly liked to talk! She thoroughly enjoyed her friends and neighbors and any chance to get together with them. They went to parties on New Year’s and Halloween at the Elk’s or Moose Club, played Bridge in houses all over the Tri-Cities, and shot off fireworks in their backyard every Fourth of July. She was a great mother to her three boys and made some of the best spaghetti this side of New Jersey. She was also a loving grandmother to her six grandchildren and never tired of showering them with her love.
Lilly is survived by her three sons: Henry (wife, Paula), Alfred (wife, Jamie), and Tom (wife, Katie); her grandchildren: Joe, Benjamin, Aaron, Danae, Matthew, and Peter; her brother, Bernard Carter; and sister, Katie Fitch, who both still reside in Virginia.
A graveside service will be held for Lilly on Saturday, February, 14 at 1:00pm at Sunset Gardens; 915 By Pass Highway, Richland, WA 99352.
Mrs. Salzano could be in Webster’s Dictionary to define “kind” “friendly” “outgoing” or any other term of endearment. I enjoyed her welcoming greetings no matter where our paths crossed.
We will all miss Lilly very much. I enjoyed talking with Lilly when she visited the family here in Spokane. Praying for the whole family during this difficult time. Don Wiley
I was fortunate to live next door to Lily for 36 years, a great neighbor and very nice person. Yes, she did make the best spaghetti around… Lily knew me as a kid and welcomed my parents to the neighborhood in 1963. Our neighborhood will miss her very much.
Lilly was always warm and welcoming. She had such energy!
She knew both how to care for and love others, and how to graciously receive care and love from her friends and family. We are so sorry for your loss.
