Lyle “Butch” D. Kier
Lyle Dean Kier, Jr., 70, passed away on February 11, 2015, at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, WA, after a long illness. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hiking. Born on July 5, 1944, in White Center, WA, the oldest of five siblings, he became a King County Deputy Sheriff. In 1976, Lyle and the mother of his children, Janice Vesper, moved to Richland, WA, so he could start a job at ARCHO, Hanford as an Industrial Engineer. Due to health issues, he retired in 1983. In 2002, he moved to Sweden, marrying Inger Kier. They enjoyed many years together, traveling throughout Europe, residing half time in Sweden and Richland. He is survived by his wife, Inger Kier; his daughters: Sarah Shoemaker, Rebecca Burnham, and Elizabeth Hansen (m. Marcus Hansen); his stepchildren through Inger: Charlotte Norman, Catharina Lewin (m. Damion Lewin), and Johan Soederqvist; his siblings: Wayne Kier, Steve Kier, Terry Atkinson, and Kenny Kier. Lyle had seven grandchildren: Atticus (19), Madelyne (17), Eli (14), Amiah (14), Iris (13), Michael (11), and Connor (2), all of whom he was quite proud. Only the day before he passed, he was bragging to the doctors and nurses about his grandchildren. He will be missed by all of his loved ones and friends. Though we grieve his passing, we know he will join his mother, Agnes Jane Kier; his father, Lyle Dean Kier, Sr.; and his brother, Denny Kier in the life beyond.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Richland Lodge #283; 412 Thayer Drive, Richland, WA, on February 21st from 2-5pm.
I will miss you dear brother. We had such a wonderful Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn childhood living in White Center. You put up with me as your younger brother tagging along with you, Mike, Art and Spike. Rest in peace in the company of our relatives who have passed on to the other side. Loved you, love you and will always love you bro.
Our best regards to Lyle’s family.
It was a certainly a pleasure working with Lyle when we were n Internal Audit for ARHC and Rockwell. We had a great time at 2704 E in 200 East Area of Hanford. We hooked up on the internet after he had remarried and was splitting time in Sweden and Richland.
Respectfully
Ralph Wood
I remember Lyle and his family when they came to our church. He was sang in our choir and they as a family was involved with many activities of the church. Lovely family! I got a chance to visit with Lyle and his present wife, Inger,, during the various times he was in the hospital. The shared so many stories of their life in Sweden and the many places they had traveled. I will mis his smile and wit. Rest in peace, Lyle.
To the family Lyle:
So sorry for your loss. The last time I ran into Lyle, he was telling me all of the places he had gone. He really like to travel. I worked with Lyle many years ago with the KIBE PTA. He wa our President and was working for the kids. He loved his girls/family.
He will be missed.
Dad–I love and miss you so much. I will remember the good times we shared–how much we had in common, for better or worse. I’m glad I saw you one last time–the night before when we were chatting–you talking about how proud you are of Atticus, saying you were lucky to have three beautiful daughters. I can’t believe you’re gone. Love you forever–Sarah
I will miss your laughter and smile of the many fine memories of the good times I had as your little brother. Rest in peace. Love u bro
We got 16 wonderful years together. We did so much. Living in both USA and Sweden. We visited Paris, Mallorca and many places in Sweden. You were loved by so many for your generosity, kindness, positivism, your wonderful way to tell stories. Your laugh and your kind eyes, which always had a smile. You were wonderful to my kids. They loved you. You said, you felt like a father for them.
You gave me so much Love, Trust and Respect. I will never hear your wonderful voice saying
” Sweetheart” or “Precious Angel” anymore, but there are there in my thoughts.
I will miss You so much and I will forever love You.
May you rest in peace.
I love you dad and miss you every day. I love the memories of hunting and going camping. I always remember you.
