Maurice ‘Gene’ Geiger

Gene (Maurice) Geiger, West Richland Wash.

Gene Maurice Geiger, 73, of West Richland, WA passed away February 16, 2015 after a courageous battle with leukemia.  Gene was born on April 21, 1941 in Everett, WA.

Gene was a Boeing quality assurance inspector for many years until he retired and moved to the Tri-Cities in 2004 at the suggestion of his long-time friend, Ken Bragg.  Knowing that Gene had no family to enjoy in his retirement years, Ken’s encouragement led Gene to settle outside of West Richland on a small acreage.

Gene became a very active member and leader of Kosmos Singles joining in September 2005.  The members became his family.  His hospitality was ongoing -- by offering his home for various Kosmos activities: the Easter Egg Hunt, Thanksgiving Day dinner, and his favorite – the Super Bowl. His generosity was evident in so many ways, as a past Kosmos Leader and Assistant Leader, providing and preparing the entrees for our many picnics and other Kosmos activities.

Gene had many stories and would argue about anything if challenged. He particularly enjoyed working in his shop and garden, fishing and hunting, and especially anything to do with airplanes. Gene had also been a member of the Kennewick Eagles #2485 for many years.  He was a man of vast knowledge and kindness.

Gene deeply enjoyed his many friends who stopped by Kadlec hospital to see him, including Cam and Annie Almli from Seattle, and locally, Ken Bragg and Joyce Steele who were by his side every day during his stay at Kadlec.  Gene was a dear friend to many and was surrounded by them when he passed.  He will be missed by his many friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 28th at Einan’s at Sunset Chapel, 915 By-Pass Highway, Richland, WA.
