Wilmer Willis was born December 27th, 1924 to Sim and Luvenia Willis at the family farm in Elizabeth, Louisiana; the eighth of twelve children. Wilmer enlisted in the Army in 1943, participating in the European theater taking part in the Normandy landing, the Battle of Bastogne and the crossing of the Rhine River, before being transferred to the Pacific.
He came home and began a family, started a career with the Insulators union local #53 retiring in 1987 and moving to Richland, Washington. Wilmer then began a second career with Badger Mountain Irrigation District, where he rose to the position of foreman by completing his high school education in his late seventies, he retired in his mid-eighties.
Wilmer’s love for life touched many. His youthful demeanor and sense of humor belied his real age. An unassuming man, Wilmer would help anyone who he saw was willing to help themselves. He was a deeply religious man and member of Richland Heights Baptist Church, A.R.E. and the Richland Masonic lodge #283. Wilmer passed away peacefully at home March 3rd, 2015 surrounded by love at ninety years of age.
He is survived by his first wife, Mrs. Lola “Pat” Willis; his second wife, Mrs. Violet Willis; his brothers: Mr. Claude Willis and Mr. Ruiel Willis; six of his eight children: Shing Sutton, Michael Willis, Tom Willis, Nathan Horne, Rachel Brooks and Joseph Willis; and numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother; his siblings: Ardelia, Epsy, Alvis, Edgar, Erie, Evie, Lena, Roy and Purney; and Children: Dalton and Lafon.
Rest now loving man, you’ve earned it.

A viewing will be held Friday, March 6, 2015 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Events at Sunset; 915 By Pass Hwy, Richland, WA. Wilmer’s Inurnment Service will take place Sunday, March 8, 2015 at 11:00am at Sunset Gardens; Richland, WA.
Wilmer always had a story to tell and I will especially miss the one about Jambalaya! I am so glad I got to know him, he will be missed. Prayers for Violet and the rest of his family.
So sad. I wish I had been working so I would have known sooner. I will miss Wilmer. Violet, take care. Loved you both. God has him now.
May you rest in peace Uncle Wilmer. I will never forget what you did for my Mother. You were such a careing person. I know you and the rest of the Willis’s are haveing such a wonderful reunion.

To the love of my life I loved you yesterday I love you today and I will love you forever, you were an amazing man who changed my life for the better, we shared a great life and I miss you so much but I know you’re in a much better place than we are, the tears still stream down my face but they are for me and me alone as I know you’re not hurting anymore, and for this I’m grateful. I hope you’re enjoying the party . You’re in the spotlight now and you so greatly deserve it. I love you, we will always be in Hawaii. your wife for life !
It was a pleasure to have known Wilmer. He was a exceptional husband and loved his family immensely! He will be sorely missed.
