Ada “Pauline” Hein

From Kennewick, Washington | Born in Pasco, Washington
Ada “Pauline” Hein
Ada Pauline Savage Hutson Hein
Ada “Pauline” Savage Hutson Hein peacefully passed away April 19, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.
Pauline was born February 10, 1930 in Pasco, Washington
at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital to Paul King and Ada Joslin Savage. She graduated from Pasco High in 1948.
Pauline was the granddaughter of Pasco pioneers, Edison and Mary Savage and the great granddaughter of Lorinda Bewley, a survivor of the Whitman Massacre in 1847, which several books have been written about.
Pauline worked with Seattle First National Bank in Pasco and moved to Los Angeles in 1951 for Bank of America. She later worked with the main office of California Bank, downtown Los Angeles.
Pauline Loved Los Angeles. She would share many stories of adventures and celebrity parties that she would attend and greatly missed her friends who she kept in contact with throughout the years. Los Angeles was a place of her best memories and it is where her daughters were born (San Pedro).
Pauline returned to the Tri-Cities in 1956 with her family and returned to her working career. This included 35+ years of banking, beginning with Seattle 1st National in Richland then onto 15 years traveling as Auditor/Vice President for National Bank of Alaska in Anchorage (during the building of the Alaska oil pipeline). Whenever Pauline returned to the Tri-Cities, she loved to mingle with the ol’ Richland/Pasco “Bank Ladies” or take in a game of golf.
In 1959, Pauline married the love of her life, Earl G. Hutson (Jerry). They had a wonderful life together and co-owned “The Gaslight”, in Richland, with Dick Watson. Tragically, it was cut short when Jerry passed away of lung cancer in 1967. Pauline will be buried next to him.
Pauline had many passions. She loved to travel and did quite a bit of it. She loved history and made it important to her children to know their Irish/English heritage and ancestry. She was a devote member of the Franklin County Historical Museum in Pasco. But to top it off, her most valuable passion and possessions were not just her daughters, but her many life-time dogs and cats. She loved animals and gave generously to the SPCA in Anchorage, AK.
As Pauline got older, her later years were spent in Atlanta, GA and Florida, close to her daughter, Linda. Pauline moved back to the Tri-Cities in 2009 to be close to her other daughter, Terry. It was shortly after coming home to Washington that Pauline was diagnosed with Alzheimers. All those memories of her life were soon to be lost.
It will be a celebration for mom to be greeted by all of those who went before her. Pauline is preceded in death by her parents, Paul King and Ada Ardella Savage; her brother Paul Edward Savage; her sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Charles Ray; her 3 husbands, Harlon(Hal) Foy, Earl G. (Jerry) Hutson, and Siegfried (Sigi) Hein; her niece, Cindy Ray & nephew, Mike Ray; and her precious pets that will be sitting with wagging tails anxiously waiting for her to come home.
Pauline, is survived by her twin daughters, Linda Marie Guay (Rob) and Terry Ann Gunter (Dale); 4 grandchildren: Annie Thompson (Jared), Jeremy Guay (Angela), Chad Guay (Amanda) and Danielle Yager Donnelly; 2 step grandchildren: Barbie Wolf (Dan) & Tami Johansen (Denny Webb). She also leaves behind 7 wonderful great grandchildren; Arraya & Bridger Thompson, Dylan & Madison Guay, Ellis & Leila Guay, and Jaydon Donnelly; 3 step great grandchildren; Jarett Wolf, Lillie and Riley Johansen.
And last but not least, Pauline leaves behind: her loving sister-law, Colleen Savage, her nieces (Sheila, Jane, Susan & Shannon)/nephews (Randy, Bill, Mark, Tom & Pat) & their families; her lovely friends: Betty Van Vliet, Shelley and Shirley Hankins …and of course…all of her memories.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Einans’ Event Center on May 13th, from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm with Gravesite Services at 3:30 pm.
Pauline’s family would like to thank her doctor, Sandra Soulek, The Royal Columbian staff, The Callaway Garden Staff and Heartlinks Hospice for all of their help, support and love for their mother during her time of need…”You were the best! In lieu of flowers, per Pauline’s request, the family is asking that your donate to the Benton County Humane Society or to The National Alzheimer’s Organization.
Terry, Thanks for noticing our mother’s obituary and reaching out. I’m so sorry to hear of your mother’s loss. She mother sounds to have had a wonderful life, part of Richland’s founding days like my mother. Weren’t they strong and adventurous, our mom’s? We miss our mother, Sadelle, greatly. She, too, is where I get my deep love for animals. Mom suffered from advanced dementia and it was difficult to see her loose such great memories to age and disease.
I shouldn’t be amazed to cross paths with so many from our class as our parents enter hospitals, nursing homes, and memory care centers recently. That means we’re all sharing in similar struggles and losses. Life’s cycles, such as they are.
I wish your family peace as you share in your grief together. It’s been tumultuous and we just take solace that our mom had a wonderful long life, us children, and that she’s out of her pain now, resting in a better place.

Terry, Linda and family’s was a very nice memorial service. What I will always remember about your mom was the fun times my mom and I had when we visited her when she lived in Bellevue, we went shopping to some little towns nearby and went to dinner had so much fun laughing and just spending some fun time together. Also I lost my dad when I was only twelve and I remember my mom talking all 6 of us kids to your house in Richland ,remember the playhouse and when we were ready to leave your dad would call from the gaslight and say tell Irene to stop on her way home,he would come out to the car with 3 or more big pizzas, always a very fond memory of how very kind your mom and dad was to us. Very beautiful memory’s.
Our sympathies to Pauline’s family. We did not know Pauline but appreciate what a great MOM she was based on our association with Linda and her husband Rob.
Pauline was very much a second Mother to me. Always including me in all the activities, events or just hanging out at the house, which has made a very strong friendship for Terry, Linda and I. The one thing I know that really irritated her was my inability to tell time. During our 8th grade year she gave us a ride to school since it was on her way to work. Well I was never on time and leave it to me to really tick her off. Pauline had a nice way of letting me know she was not happy with my tardiness and how important being on time was. That I thank Pauline for everyday. My on time performance has improved greatly since (LOL). So many great memories I’ll treasure forever! Love you Pauline and we shall see you again.
My Beautiful Linda and Terry – we knew it was coming but that still does not ease the pain. Pauline was wonderful and taught you well. Stay strong and surrounded by family. Sending my love.
Linda and Terry, my thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of loss. Your mom was my “BFF”. She will be missed and always have a special place in my heart along with many wonderful memories of the good times we shared.
Grandma Hein
You will be greatly missed. Sending our love.

So sorry to hear of the passing of another “Mom” from our youth. Always a gracious hostess, her laughter would fill the room as she welcomed us into her home. You will be missed, dear lady.
We are so sorry for your loss. We are sure she was an awesome mom as you both Terry & Linda reflect that. Prayers for all of you & your family. The beautiful thing about life is it’s only temporary & eternity for believers is in heaven with Jesus & our loved ones. Call us anytime. Love you all. Rod, Nita & family.
