Gil was an incredible person that made the most of his opportunities. Gil enlisted in the United States Navy and came to America; where he sent money home to his family and started a new one. His military career included service during the Vietnam War, stations at Norfolk, Charleston, Jacksonville, and finally to Naval Air Station Lemoore, where he retired after 20 years and raised his family. Gil loved his wife of over 50 years and with the devotion and love he provided for his family, he presented future generation’s unlimited opportunities. Gil took pride in his three sons, whom followed his footstep of service; Gil, Jr. and Scott graduated from the Naval Academy and Peter graduated from the Air Force Academy. Our deepest condolences to the Diaz family. Gil and I were classmates throughout high school. He stopped by Manila to inform me that he was leaving the Philippines to go to booth camp in the U.S. Navy. We lost contact with each other since then until we saw each other again at a Notre Dame School reunion in Las Vegas in the mid-1990’s, at which time we rekindled our friendship and kept in touched for years. I met his wife Josie at that time and we kept in touch by phone and visited him in Lamoore, CA. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren. I am so sorry to loose contact with him again after he moved out of Lamoore, CA. I will surely miss him and our friendship. I will pray for his repose soul and may he rest in peace.

My condolence to the Diaz famiy. May he rest in the eternal peace and joy of our Lord.
Dear Auntie Josie, Junior, Scott and Peter,
I am deeply shocked and saddened by the passing on of Uncle Gil today (Just as I was meaning to touch base to inform him of the recent passing on of his older sister Fe). I have fond memories of him driving all the way to Vancouver (with Auntie) to join our Notre Dame re-union as well as his giving me a tour of the Sequoia Park. I grew up with father telling me how he took care of his parents and younger siblings. His never-ending stories and laughter on our phone calls will sorely be missed. Rest in Peace, Uncle and I will always keep you in my prayers.
Condolences and prayers to the bereaved family of Uncle Gil. We just learned about his death today, October 21.
Dear Auntie Josie, Gil Jr, Scott and Peter,
We just learned today about the passing of Uncle Gil. We are all so saddened about this shocking news. Please know that he occupies a very special place in our hearts. When he first came to the US after he joined the Navy, the first thing he did for my father (his cousin) was to buy him a lifetime subscription to the Reader’s Digest. It was his way of thanking my father and mother for facilitating and contributing small monetary token so he could make the trip to Davao City to enlist in the US Navy. He served his country well and took of his parents, his siblings and his children. He loved his wife and was so proud of him. He willl be missed.
We love you Dad & Grandpa. Watch over us in Heaven.
Gil was missed by all of the staff at Lemoore Naval Hospital when he moved to Washington State, and now will be deeply missed. I am glad I had the opportunity to work with and help such a great person. Deepest synpathies for the loss of Gil.
So sorry for the loss of Gil. I have know Gil and Jose for years, working with both of them. He was such a friendly person and never met a stranger. I know his family will miss him.
