Harold Brinkley
Harold D. Brinkley, 89, of Richland, died on August 4, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beth Brinkley. Harold was survived by his sons Don Brinkley (Fern), Jerry Brinkley (Shelley), his grandson and right-hand-man Stacy Brinkley (Jolene), his stepchildren Greg Lawless (Janine), Scott Lawless (Linda), Sue Lawless, Tim Lawless (Katie) and Linda LaStayo (Paul), as well as 19 other grandchildren and step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, all of whom were touched by Harold’s kind generosity.
Born in a farmhouse in Iowa, he served in World War II in the Philippines and Japan. Through hard work and a keen business sense, Harold started a painting business and invested in commercial property including a grocery store, apple orchard, bowling alley, and shopping mall. Harold was a self-made successful businessman. He owned and piloted a small plane. Harold was extremely handy - it seemed he could build anything. Yet he remained a humble person, devoted to his family, church and dog. He was a faithful member of Holy Spirit Parish. Harold quietly made many charitable contributions during his life. All who knew him will miss his mischievous teasing, his stories, his kindness, and the love he showed his family and friends.
Services will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7409 West Clearwater Ave in Kennewick. Viewing will start at 11:00am, with the Mass following at 1:00pm. The Graveside service will be held at 4:00pm at Sunset Gardens, 915 Bypass Hwy in Richland.
Harold will be very deeply missed. Brenda and I really enjoyed running into him and his wife at various restaurants around town. I have known Harold for 60 years or so, he was always a truly great guy.
