From West Richland, WA | Born in Sleeper, Missouri

Betty Lou Meeks

A beautiful, loving, caring, Christian woman went to her final home on September 3, 2015.  Betty Lou Lambeth Meeks was a most loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  Betty was always thinking of others. From her childhood in Missouri she struggled with her physical health but her loving heart for Jesus and others was always amazingly strong.

Betty was born December 18, 1928 in Sleeper, Missouri to Verna and Ralph Lambeth.  After WWII the family moved to Arcata, California.  Betty met Fred L. Meeks while living there.  They were married November 26, 1947.  Three children were soon added to the family.  In 1954 the family moved to Washington.  The family lived in an “A” house in Richland.  A new baby boy joined the family.  In 1958 the Meeks’ family moved to West Richland.  Betty was still living in her West Richland home when she was rushed to Kadlec.  After a medical struggle of 5 ½ weeks Betty was called to her eternal home with Christ.

Betty was the ultimate wife and mother.  Betty and Fred were always involved in their children’s activities and school.  Too soon the home transitioned to the empty nest status.  But family time was shared on trips, holidays, and with the addition of grandchildren.   After losing her husband, Fred, Betty rebuilt her life with church activities, trips with family, and spoiling grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Betty worked at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri in the officer’s PX.  She worked in a cookhouse in California.  Later she worked retail and in a children’s daycare facility.  Betty worked at Richland Animal Hospital for several years.  Betty’s focus was always family.  All of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren have beautiful Christmas stockings that were hand-made by her.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Fred L. Meeks, Jr., her parents, and brother Ralph Lambeth, Jr.  She is survived by her four children, Natalie, Loralie Avery, Fred aka Butch (Marlene), and David (Carol Ann), several grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be Wednesday, September 9th from 5-8pm at Einan’s Event Center.  Graveside services will be noon Thursday, September 10th at Einan’s.  Memorial service will be at 1pm September 10th at First Baptist Church, 1107 Wright Ave., Richland.
