Helen Elaine Foreman
Helen Foreman died on November 10, 2015. Helen was born January 12, 1931, to Kenneth and Lydia Ballantyne in Sioux City, IA. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School. She went to work for a lawyer and then met the love of her life, Homer Foreman. They married in December of 1948, had son Terry, and moved to the Tri-Cities in the early 1950s.
They had two more children, Sherry and Ken, while living in Richland. Helen went to work at various Hanford companies over the years and retired in the late 80’s. She and Homer continued to go camping with friends and travel to family reunions, and to Europe and Hawaii. After Homer died in 2006, Helen moved into assisted living where she met many new friends and played bridge regularly.
She loved working, reading good books, drawing and painting, playing the piano, traveling, music, shopping, dinner out with good friends, and taking care of dogs for friends and family. While working and raising their three children, Helen also took German language classes and art classes to broaden her horizons and kept a dictionary by her chair at home to look up words and phrases that made her curious.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and five brothers, Kenneth, Donald, Richard, Glen, and Merle. She is survived by sister Judy Terry (Marvin) of Chula Vista, CA and her three children, Terry of Oregon, Sherry of Richland, and Ken (Kim) of Canandaigua, NY, five grandchildren, Jill (Josh) of Gresham, OR, Shara (Rich) of Nampa, ID, Katie of Bend, OR, Kyle of Canandaigua, NY, and Megan, also of Canandaigua, two great-grandchildren, Jalen and Alexzander of Nampa, ID, and many good friends.
She will be remembered for her love of family, kids, and animals, an outgoing personality, and a love of conversation with friends and strangers.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Guardian Angel Homes and Brookdale assisted living, the Tri-Cities Hospice at the Chaplaincy, Drs. Merkley and Staeheli and staff, and the staff at the Richland Shari’s Restaurant.
Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 2:00pm at Events at Sunset in Richland, WA.
When Helen worked in the 400 Area during the FFTF construction and start up she was always a pleasant and helpful lady while staying on top of all sorts of activities that were in progress all over the plant. Also, she was always a friendly and smiling lady in the dining room at what is now Brookdale –Richland during her later years.
Sherry, I am saddened to learn of your mother’s passing. I remember (and thank you for sharing) all those wonderfully engaging stories of your relationship with your mother. I wish you comfort and peace and will keep the memories of the two of you forever in my heart. God’s love and light, John and Connie
My condolences to all the Foremans and others that were a part of Helens life. I can’t think of a time that Helen wasn’t smiling. That is how I always picture her in my mine. Heaven is certainly going to liven up now that Helen is there.
Hi its me again, I need to make a correction on my last entry. Accuracy is important to me. I did not see Helen on the 21st of April 2013, cuz that was the date of my sister’s death. It had to have been a matter of days following, the specific date escapes me, as so many other things do these days.
What a special lady. I had the privilege of knowing Helen throughout my life. I was one of the fortunate friends that got to enjoy the camping trips as a youngster. She radiated with joy, every time I saw her, and would light up any room. The last time I had the privilege of seeing her was at my twin sisters memorial service April 21st 2013. I was so elated to see her and Sherry, and so many other friends, who were able to come and say goodbye to my sister.
Aging, seems to be tough on us all! I thank God Helen’s at peace and no longer suffering. She’s with her family & friends who have passed on. I look forward to seeing her and chatting with her again on the other side! Rest in peace Helen. To the family; my condolences at your loss. Your mom’s journey here is complete. I’m certain, our Father God is saying, “Helen, good job my child, come, I will give you rest!”

Sorry about your mom, Sherry. I think I only met her once with you at Costco. My thoughts and condolences are with you.
