Linda A. Odlin

From Richland, WA | Born in Chehalis, WA

Linda A. Odlin

Linda L. Odlin

Our Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to all, went to be with our savior in heaven on Friday, October 30, 2015 at age 54. Linda was a registered nurse and spent her entire adult life caring for others. Family and Nursing were Linda's passion.

Linda was born August 9, 1961 at Chehalis, Washington to Shirley and Carl Milton. Linda grew up in Centralia, Washington.  After graduating from high school Linda spent some time in Alaska; a state she fell in love with and always wanted to return to. Linda worked towards her nursing degree and became a registered nurse where she immersed herself in helping others. She was a compassionate and fair nursing instructor and supervisor who treated everyone with the utmost respect. She was well loved by the nursing staff at all of the locations she worked at. Linda was the Health and Wellness Director for Brookdale Senior Living in Richland, Washington. Linda was very proud of this building and the staff she oversaw, Linda treated each person as if they were her family.

Linda has lived in Richland for the past 4 years after moving here from Republic Washington with her husband.

In 2007 Linda met and fell in love with her husband, Steve Odlin. They were married Nov 24, 2008. Linda and Steve loved camping with family, especially the grandkids. Linda's favorite place to get away was the ocean. They always stayed at the Sandpiper-Beach Resort on the Washington Coast. There was no TV or other distractions to take away from the peacefulness and beauty of the beach and the tides as they rolled in and out; Linda would spend hours on the balcony of her favorite unit listening to the surf and just looking out to sea.

Linda was all about family and everything she did involve her family. She especially loved Christmas and Thanksgiving to have family over so she could cook big meals to feed everyone who showed up. Every Christmas Linda would make family DVD's to give out that were filled with memories from the past year that had been sent to her by family members to everyone. At the large family Christmas gathering everyone would watch Linda's DVD’s with laughter and having a great time pointing fingers at each other.

Most evenings you would find grandkids running through her home wanting grandma to play with them; which she always found time to do. Weekends during the summer were either spent camping, or just playing in the pool in the back yard with grandkids. Linda also loved riding her horses and one of her favorite pictures was of the first time her oldest granddaughter, Shalesa rode Linda's horse, Rosie.

Linda is survived by her husband, Steve Odlin; her daughters: Amy (Nick) Campbell, Angie Butterton, Heather (Tim) Boyer; her sons: Jason Butterton,  Cameron (Megan) Odlin; her mother and stepfather: Shirley and Ken Clark; her sisters: Barbara Graff, Kathy (Mike) Eberle, Michelle Clark, Kimberly Clark; her brothers: Carl (Karen) Milton,  Rob (Shelly) Milton; 12 grandchildren: Shalesa, Chloe, Jenson,  Wyatt, Zane, Macy, Tobias, Carson, Kyla, Celeb, Dylan and Brendan

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Carl Milton.

A Celebration of Linda's life will be held at her place of employment, Brookdale Senior living; 1629 George Washington Way, Richland WA 99354 from 1:30-3:30pm, Thursday November 12, 2015.

  • How shocking was the news of Linda’s passing. Memories of all the fun and stressful times we shared at Quail returned and most of them brought a smile.
    * I will always remember Linda with her glasses on top of her head, yes, look at the photos and you will remember that too.
    * She was happy to visit the hospital to support not only the current residents in her care but to wrap her arms around another person in need.
    * A meal at PF Changs always included Linda’s favorite Lettuce Wraps.
    * My favorite memory is a visual of the story she told of an incident in their backyard when a granddaughter hit the side of the swimming pool causing a collapse that washed everyone over the edge in a big wave onto the ground! I can still hear Linda laughing as she told the story.
Linda made a difference in the lives of all she touched, RIP my friend.

  • Dear Odlin Family,
I am so sorry to have read of your loss; please accept my sincere condolences. Something that I have personally found to be of great comfort are the thoughts expressed at John 5:28,29 as well as Revelation 21:4. In these verses we find a wonderful hope for the future of being reunited with our loved ones upon the earth the way it was originally intended–free from sickness, suffering, and death. Knowing this has comforted me in the past, and it is my sincere hope that these thoughts comfort your family as well.

  • I had the pleasure of working at Ferry County Hospital with Linda. She was always a positive and caring person. Linda loved being a nurse. May I say she was an excellent one. Never forgot the extra care she gave my father and all of her patients. Linda will truly be missed. I feel so sad that I hadn’t taken the time to meet up and go camping last year.

  • Linda,
No matter how busy, you would drop what you were doing to ensure a potential new resident got a visit from you. You truly cared for them even before you met them. I loved that you cared enough to ensure their medical & emotional needs were met, no matter the circumstances. Thank you, for being you and you will truly be missed, but never forgotten.

  • I love you Missy. I can’t believe you are gone. My heart is so empty right now. I am trying to keep it together because I know you would expect no less than that from me. I will take care of your Grand-babies just like we always talked about. Linda, when I told God I would wait for him to send me the perfect woman, he did just that. I waited and he sent you, perfect in every way. My love for you grew daily even when I thought my heart could hold no more love for you, it would hold more. I told you Wednesday night how my love for you was so strong that it was unbelievable, that it just wanted to explode from my chest. Tears came from your eyes and you told me how no one ever loved you like that before… I meant every word of it. We were soul mates and our journey will continue again some day, right where we left off. Until then as you would always tell me “I’ll be fine” …not really… but I will try. You grand kids all love and miss you and I will always love and miss you Missy
