Jane Ellen Burke
Jane Ellen (Bezold) Burke, born July 14, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois, passed away on January 3, 2016, at the age of 67. She married the love of her life, John Burke, on February 20, 1971. Their loving marriage lasted just shy of 45 years. They never had children of their own but were blessed with many life long friends and beautiful family members.
Jane graduated St. Lucy’s College Prep in 1966 and attended college for two years –
part of that time was spent at the Pasadena Playhouse in California studying acting
and directing; she particularly enjoyed the class on swordsmanship. Soon after, the acting school was closed. Jane then joined her family in Northern California.
It was in 1970 that Jane “found her heart” while working in San Francisco. After a
beautiful wedding and honeymoon, she was offered a promotion at GAB, Inc., which led
to a move to the the Redwood City office. After establishing that office, she was
asked to head the office in Santa Monica, California. Three years later, she and her
best friend John, accepted a position in Alaska – John for Bechtel and Jane for GAB.
And thus, the traveling began; from Alaska to Europe to Tri-Cities in Washington.
Jane was passionate about the theatre, whether in New York or local productions.
She also enjoyed playing golf, tennis, cooking and various club and church activities.
In her spare time, she taught religious education to second graders at the various
Roman Catholic parishes she belonged to at a particular time (St. Joseph’s in Kennewick, Wa. being her favorite).
She loved gatherings with family and friends and loved to entertain
in her home. She also enjoyed the violin, piano, guitar and took refresher courses
at the University of Alaska, Arizona State and UCLA in California.
Her biggest kick out of life was simply sharing time with John – her soul mate.
She thanked God every day for having “found her heart in San Francisco” and for her entire loving family.
There may be another street car, taxi or a bus BUT
There will NEVER be another US!!!
Love and Miss you Janie – See you again in Heaven!! Xoxo
