From Kennewick, WA | Born in Huntington Park, CA
Tracy F. Getz
Tracy F Getz, 53, passed away on January 8th, 2016 at the Hospice House in Kennewick. He was born on July 28th, 1962 in Huntington Park, CA. For the last 7 years, he lived in the Tri-Cities where he worked as an engineer and attended Hillspring Church. He is survived by his wife Tricia, daughter Torey, son Thor, sister Terri Burger and her husband Loel of CA, brothers Alex Getz and his wife Susie, Dennis Getz and Mitch Getz of OR. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl H and Dorothy R (Gutridge) Getz who were married for 57 years. On Saturday, January 16th at 1:00 pm, his celebration of life will be held at Hillspring Church 1153 Gage Blvd, Richland, WA 99352. In lieu of flowers or gifts, remembrances may be made to Hillspring Church or to the Tracy Getz Family Memorial Fund at Gesa Credit Union. Any money from that fund will go towards the children’s college educations.
Tracy was the youngest of 5 children. He lived in California until the family moved to Oregon when he was 12. He loved to play with Army Men and G.I. Joes as a young boy. He played football for Rogue River High school, where he graduated in 1980. In his early adulthood, he drove truck and later became an owner/operator. Later he went to college at the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, OR where he graduated June 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology. Later that year he met his soulmate in Portland, OR where he had moved for a job with Freightliner. They were married a year later on December 28, 1996. Two of his proudest moments were the births of his children. Shortly before being diagnosed with cancer he received a Stewardship award from Bechtel for volunteering as a coach on a First Lego League Team. Tracy was loved by all and will be greatly missed, especially by his family.
So sorry to hear (belatedly) about Tracy passing away. I attended the same parochial school in California as Tracy, though several grades his junior. Tracy was the only “big kid” on campus that treated us “little kids” with kindness, and we all loved him for it. I seem to remember one incident where his mom had packed a bag of peanuts for him in his lunch, and all of us annoying little 3rd graders “swarmed” him until the poor guy had given away all the peanuts. He was very patient with us all. My condolences to Tracy’s family.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Getz family. Tracy was a fun person to know in high school. Later, it was great to be able to reconnect through Facebook. He sure was a great person who was loved and will be greatly missed.
Tracy was my brother in law, my husband’s baby brother. We are so blessed to have been in Kennewick last week with Tricia, Torey, and Thor. Lot’s of laughs and lot’s of tears. I have lot’s of fun and sometimes not fun memories of times spent with Tracy. We are so glad you are no longer in.pain. We will miss you Tracy. Love you!
Tracy……so kind. So giving. So loved by all.

I met Tracy for the first time last summer when his mother-in-law Bunny Girt and I drove from Portland to Tri-Cities to visit. A long time had passed between a visit with Bunnys daughter Trish and me, so it was wonderful to see her and meet Tracy, Torey and Thor. Bunny had told me many times that Tracy was a great family man. I found everything Bunny had told me about him was true. We all went to their beautiful church together one day. I love that their faith is so strong. It was an honor to know Tracy even though it was such a short time. I can see that Tracy will be greatly missed by family and friends.
May there be comfort in knowing that someone so special will never be forgotten.
So very sorry for your loss, keeping you all in my prayers.

I will remember that modeling lived out during your fight with cancer ; the rest of the family serving in Nativity, Torey singing and Thor in the front row with his peers.
