William Edward Ingalls
William Edward Ingalls passed away on January 14, 2016 at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle WA., due to a heart related issue. William was born on April 5, 1935 to Margaret Gabriel (Baumgartner) in Faulkton, SD. He was adopted shortly after birth by Robert C. and Mary A. Ingalls. He was deeply loved, had a wonderful childhood, and spent many a day fishing the Yakima River.
He served in the Coast Guard for 4 years. It was during that time that he met and married the love of his life, Janet Newkirk, on April 5, 1958. After a few years in the Yakima Valley, they moved to Oregon. At Diamond Crater Lake Junction he built, owned, and operated a gas station & restaurant. In 1977, William and his family moved to Burbank, WA. There he built their family home and worked as a framer and did foundation work in the construction field. He was an excellent provider.
William was actively involved in politics during most of his adult life. He was passionate about preserving our great nation and ensuring a safer world for his children and grandchildren. He had a great appreciation for the outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt, bird watch, garden, plant trees, as well as being an avid reader. He was a kind and loving man who instilled and left a legacy with his children to have high work ethics and standards. One of his favorite sayings was, “If you’re going to do something, do it right or don’t do it at all.”
One of William’s goals in life was to find and make connection with his birth mother. He happily located her and discovered that he was the first of 16 children. It meant so much to him to attend a family reunion and to finally meet his birth mother and half sisters and brothers.
He was a dearly loved husband, father and grandfather. He will be immensely missed and we feel so very blessed to have had him in our lives!
He is survived by his loving wife Jan of 58 years; his daughters and son: Sandra Dabill (husband Wayne), Penny Ingalls, Sonya Newton (husband Alan), Robert Ingalls (wife Marcia), his grandchildren: Lacy Dabill, Joshua Dabill, Dalton Ingalls, and Savanna Ingalls; His Brothers and Sisters: Larry, Geraldine, Ronald, Agnes, Paul, Joe, Margie, Mary, Gloria, Leeroy, Fred, Janice, & Kathy. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Shirley, brother Jeffery, and granddaughter Joy Arlene Dabill.
Graveside service will be held by Einan’s at Sunset Gardens, at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 21, 2016. (915 Bypass Hwy, Richland, WA)
