Jack Wallace Brophy

Jack Wallace Brophy was born October 25th, 1929 and passed away August 24th, 2016. Members of his family were by his side as he left to join his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann Brophy, who preceded him in death on March 23, 2012.

Jack was born to Harry and Agnes Brophy in Kalispell, Montana. Jack was the youngest of three children. He grew up in St. John, Washington and graduated from St. John high school in 1947. After graduating, Jack enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as a navigator of transport planes during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge as a Master Sergeant he attended Eastern Washington College of Education where he played football and obtained a bachelor’s degree in teaching in 1951. On December 26th, 1953, Jack married his wife Mary Ann, they had four boys and one daughter.  He then settled into a long career as a teacher, coach, principal, and eventually a superintendent. After 32 years in education he retired from North Franklin School District and moved to Kennewick, Washington with Mary Ann. Jack enjoyed being with his family, volunteering in the schools, traveling with Mary Ann in their motor home, watching sports whether live or on tv at any level, playing in the stocks and golfing.

Jack in the words of his children, was “solid as a rock, and his word meant everything.” He will be sorely missed and is survived by his family; Mike and Cindy (East Wenatchee), David and Terri (Mukilteo), Kraig and Noelle (Tacoma), Bryan and Carmen (Pasco), and Lisa and Brett Baum (Okanogan). Dad, you will be missed by all but we are refreshed by knowing that you are able to reunite with Mom, and we will see you again someday. You and Mom set an example for raising our families that will last a lifetime.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Agnes Brophy; His brother William and sister Dixie.

A memorial gathering will be at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Richland Wa, on September 10th, 2016 at 2:00pm. The family invites you to sign a guest book at einansfuneralhome.com.
