Caleb Ray Culver

Caleb Ray Culver, age 41, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. Caleb was born to Stephen and Deena Culver in Sunnyside, Washington on February 10, 1975.  His childhood was filled with adventures – from riding his bike to the pet store to a family climb on Mount Rainier. Caleb enjoyed playing trombone and bass guitar in band, and running track and cross country. He was a quiet, deep thinker who excelled in school and graduated from Sunnyside High as class valedictorian.

After high school, Caleb attended George Fox University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. On March 20, 1999, he married Denise Jackson, his high school sweetheart and lifelong love. Together, they started a new adventure at Carnegie Mellon University, where Caleb earned a master’s degree in chemistry. In 2002, Caleb and Denise moved back to Eastern Washington. They eventually settled in Kennewick.

Caleb began his career in the juice industry, but soon discovered a strong interest in wine production. He oversaw quality control at Columbia Crest Winery for more than eleven years, most recently as the Director of Analytical Services.

Caleb’s greatest love was for his Savior, Jesus Christ. He had a passion for worship, and he felt honored to help with music at church. Second only to Jesus was Caleb’s family. He treasured the everyday moments with his wife and two young children – playing games, building forts, baking cookies, and taking family trips.

A man of deep integrity and character, Caleb was a quiet leader and role model to many, including family, friends, and coworkers. His greatest desire was to live a life that encouraged others to follow Jesus.

Caleb is survived by his wife Denise Culver, daughter Sabrie, and son Grant. He is also survived by his parents, Stephen and Deena Culver of Sunnyside, Washington, sister Treena (Chad) Patzke of Tigard, Oregon, brother Joshua (Sarah) Culver of Sunnyside, Washington, in-laws, Lyle and Cathy Jackson of Kennewick, Washington, brothers-in-law Kevin (LeAnne) Jackson of Richland, Washington, and Brian (Shigeko) Jackson of Pasco, Washingon, and six nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marion and Bernice Emrick, and his uncle, Allan Emrick.

A celebration of Caleb’s life will be held on Saturday, November 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kennewick Church of the Nazarene, 2402 South Union Street, Kennewick. Donations may be made in Caleb’s honor to the Tri Cities Pregnancy Network.
