Walter Weimer

Walter (Wally) Clarence Weimer, 72, passed away Saturday October 29, 2016 in Evansville, IN.  He was born September 6, 1944, in Springfield, OH, to the late Walter Colvin and Helen Louise (Frantz) Weimer. He graduated from Miami University in Ohio with a B.S. Chemistry.  Following he attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison, receiving his M.S. and PH.D. in Environmental Water Chemistry.

Wally lived in Richland, WA where he was employed at PNNL-Battelle for 43 years and retired as a Senior Research Scientist in 2014.  While living in Richland he was a Board Member of the Tri-City Chaplaincy & Hospice. He also was a Board Member of the Mid-Columbia Ballet, participating in the Nutcracker for 13 years.  He moved to Indiana in 2015 and was a member of Grace & Peace Lutheran Church in Evansville.  Wally enjoyed his yard, gardening and being outside with nature.  Before his illness began, he was an avid cyclist, riding over 1500 miles a year, and participating in the Cystic Fibrosis Ride for the Cure.

Wally is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Weimer; daughters, Kristan (Justin) Horgan and Katie (Ryan) Marzec; grandchildren, Quinn, Jude, and Layla Horgan and Eliana and Kyra Marzec; sister, Patricia Louise Royer, and nieces Kathy Royer and Cheryl Clayborn.

The Funeral was held on Saturday, November 5th at Grace and Peace Lutheran Church in Evansville, IN. The family will be bringing Wally home to Tri-Cities for his final resting place. There will be a viewing at Einan’s Funeral Home on Thursday, November 10th from 10:30-11:30 with a graveside service to follow.
