JAEL LOIS COX
Jael Lois Cox went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at the age of 57. She had been a resident of Richland for the past three and half years serving as the Office Administrator at LifeChurch7, and as a mom and homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Gary, and four children, Grayson, McKenzi, Cole and Tabitha at the family home; her mother, Lois(Marty)Howard, of Bothell, WA; three sisters, Becca Bates of Sedro Woolley, Priscilla Lindseth of Vancouver, WA and Druci Allen of Auburn, one brother, Joel Howard, of Sedro Woolley, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her dad, T.R. Howard, in 2004.
Jael was born in Everett in 1959 and moved to Sedro Woolley in 1965 when her dad assumed the pastorate of Bethel Assembly of God. She graduated from Sedro Woolley High School in 1977 and then attended Northwest University receiving her BA in Biblical Studies. While at Northwest she was known for her beautiful smile and dynamic singing voice; singing with the Choralons and public relations ministry teams for all four years.
After college, Jael worked for a church ministry in Dallas, Texas. She returned to the Northwest to work at Calvary Temple in Auburn. During that time, she renewed her friendship with Gary Cox and they were married in 1992. The newlyweds moved to Anchorage, Alaska where they served as Youth and Worship leaders at Muldoon Community Church. All four of their children were born while there. In 2010, they moved to Seattle and Gary assumed the role of Worship Pastor at Calvary Christian Assembly. Jael was employed during this time by Cedar Park Christian Schools and Aglow International.
The family moved to Richland in 2013 where Gary currently serves as Worship Pastor at LifeChurch7. For the past year, Jael has been at home with her children.
Jael never backed down at any opportunity for adventure and travelled on mission trips to Haiti, Poland, Germany, Israel, and Russia. Her life revolved around her relationship with God and family, ministry, and music. She was an inspirational speaker and singer and an amazing woman of faith. She served her God faithfully and loved to worship. With Jael, you always got a huge smile, an awesome hug, and an encouraging word.
A public celebration of Jael’s life will be held at LifeChurch7, Richland, on Friday, March 24 at 7:00 p.m.
I barely knew Jael, but Pastor Gary was my youth pastor during my sophmore and junior years at MCA in Anchorage. My heart and prayers are with him, and his entire family as they continue to do God’s great work and help others in a very special and heartwarming way. I know Jael is home with the Father, and watches daily over her husband and children, and one day they will all reunite in the great hall of our Father God and have so many stories to share. Love and peace be with each of you.
