Glen Sherman

“He laid down the boogie and played that funky music til he died”. This is the story of Glen Scott Sherman. He was born in Kennewick Wa on July 14, 1964 to Margaret (Sherman) Fann and Glen Ray Sherman. Scott passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. He endured many physical health problems that stemmed from congestive heart failure and neuropathy and still found great joy and happiness. He grew up in Moses Lake Washington and graduated from Moses Lake HS in 1982. He then worked as a mechanic and also was a professional DJ on the weekends and would play for churches, weddings, and took great pride in playing the music for the drug free teen dances at the Elks lodge. He studied engineering at BBCC in Moses Lake and graduated with Associates in Arts and Science in engineering in 1993. He met and married Desiree Dodson in 1991 and was delighted to become an instant father to Keshia (Dodson) Green. In 1993 they were blessed with the birth of their son Michael Connor Sherman. In 1995 he and his young family moved to Pullman Washington where he continued to study engineering and worked in Information Systems for the College of Pharmacy. He worked for 14 years in various capacities for the university all surrounding IT work. If there was a problem, Scott was the “go to” guy!

In 2009 he was forced to retire on disability due to heart failure that was caused by a virus. He then relocated to the TriCities to be closer to his family. In spite of multiple health issues he had a passion for helping people. He soon became the “go to” guy for many friends, relatives and even his landlord.  With the help of his friends, son, and nephews he continued to provide amazing music and lights for church dances, weddings and other events. He was truly a genius with his vast knowledge of music and ability to “read” the crowd.

He is survived by his mother, Margaret A Fann, his son Michael Connor Sherman, his sisters: Kristin Faught, Brenda Cullum (Mike), brother Robert Lack (Mark) and step sister Dorrie Burgess(Fann).  He is also survived by his Aunt Ardyth Hansen and nieces: Brandi Shelton (Scott), Jayme Heupel, Rachelle Hansen (Ben). Nephews: Tyler Johnson, Brian Johnson, Eric Johnson. He also leaves behind several cousins Jeff Hansen, Shyla Lewis (Roger) Mark Sammons, Rex Sammons.  He also has several friends who loved him dearly. He had two very dear friends who “walked” the journey with him Kara Merkley and Omar Perez.

He was preceded in death by his father Glen Ray Sherman, his grandparents Dave and Clarice Rivard, grandmother, Katherine Pauline Jackson, cousin John Sammons.

Memorial service will be Saturday August 19th, 2017 in Kennewick at the LDS Church 515 S Union Street, Kennewick. 6 Pm – 8PM. Reception to follow service.
