Frederick William Hinde, 87, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on September 26^th, 2017.

Fred is now reunited with his beloved wife Jean in heaven after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Fred was born on June 25, 1932 in Epworth, Iowa, son of Clark and Opal Hartbecke, the eldest of four siblings:  Oliver “Merle” Hinde, Margaret Harvey (Jerry), and Virginia Young (Lewis). He grew up in and around Epworth, graduating from high school there. He served his country in the U.S. Army and later received an engineering degree at Iowa State University, Ames, while working at Chamberlin's in Waterloo, Iowa.  There he met and married Jean Parkinson, a teacher, where they began their family of five children:  Patrick (Amy), Thomas, Leighsa Henderson (Tim), John, and Christine Korenko (Rob). 

Fred was blessed with grandchildren and great grandchildren: Jurnie, Marina, Eli, and Cael; Nicole, Kara, and Jacquelyn; Laura (Billy), Makenna, Makaylee, and Blake; Rowdy (Allie), Sawyer, Kristen and Kayla; Ava and Levi.  Fred considered them his greatest achievement, loving them deeply.

Fred moved his family from the Midwest to Richland in 1983. He continued his engineering career and retired from Hanford in 1994. He then followed Jean into a successful real estate partnership, which they enjoyed until Jean's health declined. Fred then dedicated his life to caring for Jean, his beloved wife of 56 years.

Fred was a practical man, valuing honesty and common sense.  He was humble and unassuming, never calling attention to himself, often using his sense of humor to warm up a conversation. Fred was intelligent, quick to understand and discern, his words were often few but witty and insightful. Fred will be greatly missed by his loving family, but they rest in the knowledge that they will join him one day in heaven.

Fred's funeral service will be Saturday, September 30^th, 1:00 pm at Christ the King Catholic Church in Richland WA.  Viewing will be held on Friday, September 29^th, 3:00 - 5:00pm at Einan’s Funeral Home in Richland, WA.
