Alan Lester Fishback

Alan Lester Fishback lifelong Richland resident and loyal Bomber fan passed away November 4, 2017 at the age of 74.

Al was preceded in death by his parents Les and Kay Fishback and niece Dana Fishback.

Al held many positions for different contractors over the years at Hanford, and retired as a project manager in 1997.

After Al left Hanford he picked up in retirement where he left off... being a Project Manager!  Anyone who came within reach of Al has had a "project" managed by Al.  He didn't often ask for help for himself, but often rallied workers to help someone else in need.  A roof, a remodel, wiring project, fencing, shed, furniture, whatever the need, Al found a way to get it done.  The Drs. say his heart was enlarged....Duh!  He had many family members, friends and animals to care for!  There wasn't a furry animal that Al didn't like!  Al joins too many of his deceased pets to name.   They all had a special place in his heart, as he has one in ours.

Ever heard of someone who'll give you the shirt off his back or of someone who'll give you the truck from under their seat?  The boots under their feet?  The dirt under their grass?  The horse under their saddle?  That was Al.  He was never one to collect objects.  "All objects were replaceable" Al would say.  This is so true.  Things weren't that important to him.  Family, friends and animal-friends were.  And that was his life.  He always wanted both around him.  And they were.

Al and Lonna held annual Fourth of July swim/bbq parties that were greatly anticipated and loved by all.  Al loved Christmas so much he played Santa too many families over the years.

Al was an avid sportsman, camper, hunter, horseman, fisherman and all around fun and happy guy!!!

Al was a son, husband, father, brother, uncle, grampa, great grampa and friend to many.  He made family wherever he went.

Al is survived by his wife Lonna L. Fishback, kids, James and Kris Garland, Brett and Wendy Garland, Kerry and Mike Ripplinger, Traci and Scott Swett,  grandchildren, Jamie (Joe), Natasha (Ken), Travis, Meghan (Andrew), Casey (Emily), Max, Tyler, Carly, Cody, Carson, great grandchildren Akiah, Alden and Teddy.  Brother Roger Fishback (Sandy), his nephew Jamie Fishback (Cherie) niece Alyssa (John) and great nephew Tyler. Lifelong friends Bob Noland, Jim Atterberry, Pete Marsh, Todd Steele, Mike Lindberg and too many others to name.

Services will be held at Events at Sunset in Richland on November 19 at 2:00pm

In Lieu of flowers please make a donation in Al’s name to Pet Over Population Prevention or Tri-City Animal Control
