Ngot Thi Nguyen

Ngot Thi Nguyen, beloved wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on December 15, 2017, at home surrounded by her family.

She was born on February 16, 1930 in Ha Nam – Phu Ly, Hanoi Vietnam.  She was adopted at the age of two and is the youngest of two children. Ngot spent most of her childhood helping her parents around the house, as well as selling merchandise and food, to bring income home for her parents. Education during her upbringing was not a priority for poor families and girls back then. Because she was busy trying to provide a steady income for her family, she never got the opportunity to pursue an education.

Ngot was married at a very young age and gave birth to six daughters. Shortly thereafter, she became a single mother.  She was a very hard worker, and continued to work at the market selling merchandises and food to support her family. She was determined to give her daughters what she was unable to have-an education. All six of her daughters graduated from high school and received a college degree.

In 1975 Ngot’s oldest daughter, Hanh, and her family immigrated to the United States. Then in 1979, Ngot took in her two grandchildren, Thao and Lam Truong (sister and brother).  She loved Thao and Lam very much and raised them like her own children.  Her eldest daughter, Hanh, sponsored Ngot to the United States. On October 10th, 1991, Ngot along with Thao and Lam immigrated to the United States and joined Hanh in Pasco, Washington. In June of 1996, her youngest daughter, Van Le and her family, immigrated to the United States and resided in Pasco, where she still lives.

She has two daughters (along with their families) who live near her in Pasco and four daughters (and their families) whom are still living in Vietnam.

During Ngot’s stay in the United States, she was a homemaker, and took great pleasure in watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. She enjoyed traveling to California visiting relatives, and going home to Vietnam to visit her daughters and their families. She has many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Vietnam.  Her family was everything to her.

On December 15, 2017, her journey with stomach cancer ended in her sleep at home surrounded by her family.  The family was blessed to have had spent extra time with her knowing that her journey was coming to an end and her new adventure waiting for her.

Ngot is survived by her children: Hanh (Ngoc) Nguyen, Vinh Le, Oanh Le, Huong Le, Lan (Nhan Phan) Le, and Van (Hoa) Le.

Grandchildren: Tom (Lisa) Nguyen, Tifany (Dennis Albin), Karen (Gene Dorendorf) Nguyen, Thao (Truong) Tran, Lam (Jennifer) Truong, Hang, Hung (Ngan), Khuyen (Duy Ai), Lam Thu (Long), Phuong Anh, Ngan, Nguyen, Hoai-An (Michael Sayaosa), and Kimberly.

Great-grandchildren: Anderson, Elijah, Mathew, Michael-Anthoni, Destiny, Mylinh, Ryan, Brandon, Katelyn, Samantha, Aria, Tai, Kim Ngan, Anh Tuan, Gia Bao, Manh, Ngoc Anh, Duy Bao, Duy An, Tuong, Madeline, and Madden.
